It's such a kind and sweet planet that nobody pays much attention to it because it doesn't cause major problems between people unlike other planets that can wreak havoc in relationship.

But, in regards to Jupiter aspects in synastry, the worst is a lack of MUTUAL Jupiter aspects (soft aspects) - only one partner makes the other happy. Only Jupiter/Sun and Jupiter/Moon sextiles, conjunctions and trines count.

So when I see his Jupiter nicely trine my Moon and Mars but my Jupiter not touching any of his planets, for example, I imagine this could end up with me wanting to marry him but not the other way round. It's just a thought.

What do you think?

Yeah... my Jupiter is conjunct my partner's Venus-Chiron and sextile his Moon.

I sometimes worry that I am getting the short end of the stick somehow but that's usually quickly flooded away by my extreme tolerance and benevolence towards him... I mean I do really like the guy and I big time see where he's coming from, but realistically I also put up with a LOT of crap, although I'm beginning to speak up when it gets intolerable--which it does! But i can see why Jupiter could lend itself to marriage--you need an extra dose of tolerance and benevolence to be around anybody that much! Srsly.

He doesn't mean to be mean and stingy... he can be really generous with affection etc. But perhaps not so much as I am--then we both pull back and play Sagittarius/Scorpio style mind games... This push pull I'm beginning to describe is more about all the Pluto squares in our composite though I am thinking...

His Jupiter-Uranus is square my nodes, under 1 degree, and my draconic Sun is conjunct his Jupiter(-Uranus) under 1 degree. His Jupiter is novile my ascendant, semisextile my Moon/Neptune and Mercury (I'm coming back around to seeing semisextiles in a positive light (that's too simplistic though)--I also really like sesquisquares, but this is off topic)... trine my Midheaven (and his IC) and verrrry widely trine my Mars (8 degrees). It's also opposite my Jupiter (7 degrees).

In short, my Jupiter makes pronounced Ptolemaic aspects to his relationship planets and his Jupiter makes subtle (yet profound?) "esoteric" aspects, the novile to my ascendant for instance--and a square to my nodes. In short, I can't sum up right now... but that's where we stand. Jupiter does figure prominently. I have a Jupiter-Uranus lesson from him, it's integrating my nodes in an interesting way, and it is challenging! Seriously.

Ohh but I like our double whammy Jupiter novile Vesta... It has seemed somehow key to our dynamic but in a really subtle way... My Jupiter is also novile his Sun. I don't know if I could handle his Saturn on my ascendant without the Jupiter novile. But also thinking like this drives me crazy.

Interestingly his Jupiter is opposite composite Juno and my Juno is opposite composite Jupiter. We both have the Juno-Jupiter square natally and that's there in composite also.

It is sooo interesting that you see it this way. I was thinking you meant the person whose Jupiter made the trines etc would want the marriage but now I see you mean it the other way--the person on the receiving end of the Jupiter winds up happier with the relationship and thus into marriage. This makes some serious sense and is a bit of a breakthrough revelation for me.

As the person making the Jupiter conjuction and sextile in this relationship I sometimes wonder how I am supposed to feel about these Jupiter contacts. It's like it's so big and generous that it has trouble receiving... could that be?

I'm out on a limb here.

It's a really interesting subject, Jupiter imbalances. We hear talk of Saturn imbalances and I've definitely explored this one, it's obvious really how it plays out... but Jupiter imbalances are just as serious perhaps! I get your drift.

Agreed! Jupiter is WAY underrated. A healthy dose of Jupiter can smooth over even the roughest Mars squares, IMO. It may not be fun, but it still feels like, "hey, you're alright" at the end of the day. Kind of like...you have your argument, but then you burst out laughing at the end of it all. How long this keeps up depends on the tolerance of the individuals I suppose.

My SO and I have Sun/Jupiter trine DW and Venus/Jupiter square DW. My Jupiter also trines his Moon. I definitely believe in the power of this planet. I'm still trying to figure out how the square manifests though...

I need Jupiter aspects in synastry like oxygene!
Though for me that includes the square and opposition as well and even very strongly so (I usually don`t even really notice a sextile of Jupiter, it feels very nice, but somehow there is a bit of that extra-boost missing. That might be an individual thing for me though. the other ptolemaic aspectst of Jupiter to especially Venus and Mars feel REALLY uplfiting. Oddly I don`t seem to go for Jupiter to Sun and MOon though it feels just VERY nice. Actually my Jupiter is conjunct my brother`s Sun and his Jupiter conjuncts my ASC-NN)

Great Thread, Cappi! <3

I was wondering about all that lately...and if Jupiter Aspects are maybe equally important for a long term relationship as Saturn.
Of course, most people learn best the hard way - so Saturn as relationship karma can be more binding.
Still: Benevolence, Growth and facilitated personal expansion would be the best to wish for in any relationship, if we were just ready for it...

I would like to know, what hard aspects could mean....is Jupiter really just positive?

What if your Venus is squared by the other's Jupiter?

Here are our Jupiter Aspects in Synastry, I would really appreciate any opinions!:

Mine in 12th House Capricorn, his in 9th House Taurus.
With a Pisces DESC, Jupiter is a Co-Ruler for him.

My Jupiter opposite his Sun (in the 10th House) (0.02 deg)
His Jupiter sesquisquare my Sun (1 deg)

His Jupiter semi square my Moon (0 deg)
His Jupiter trine my Mercury (3 deg)

My Jupiter opposite his Venus (0.03 deg)

My Jupiter sextile his Mars (1 deg)
His Jupiter biquintile my Mars (0 deg)

Our Jupiters trine at 8 degrees

My Jupiter square his Saturn (4 deg)
His Jupiter opposite my Saturn (0 deg)

My Jupiter opposite his Uranus (9 deg)
His Jupiter quincunx my Uranus (2 deg)

His Jupiter sesquisquare my Neptune (0 deg)

My Jupiter sesquisquare his Pluto (1 deg)

Hard Jupiter aspects usually mean "too much" (sometims too much of a good thing, overspending, too much expanding and so on).

Occasionally, esp. as it seems with Sun or maybe even Mercury, it can also relate to philosophical differences. But usually I noticed that even in hard aspects there is a LOT of enthusiasm. It just can get out of hands at times.

I experienced being Jupiter in a square to a SAggittarius-Venus (though maybe this is a special case as Sag-Venus is disposited by Jupiter anyway), and it was just so positive, one could get addicted to that energy.

I also frequently am Jupiter in a square to SAgittarius-Mercury (now that we talk about it is NEVER Gemini MErcury-or Venus, interesting) and that is so much fun, so much laughter, goofy and silly, occasionally really too much of the silliness. Sometimes it feels like you`ve overeaten mental stimulation, but all in all great vibration.

Thank you guys,

from what I've read happiness comes from Jupiter to Sun/Moon specifically - luminaries. Now when it touches other planets, it's a different effect. I would think with Venus we'd get love and generosity from Jupiter. Mars - sex and sport activities, actually any activities together will bring joy. Mercury - humour. laughter. With squares and oppositions, your set of values won't align, religion, life philosophies, all that.

If you have a love triange for example, considering both are good synastries, he will choose the one whose Jupiter trines/conjuncts his Sun/Moon. That's the theory.

I usually ignore all the Jupiter squares and oppositions because how bad can they be? That's the beauty of this planet, it can't cause any real damage. But when I see conjunctions and trines, those actually ARE important, especially if you have problems with Saturn in your synastry. Jupiter will come to your rescue. It's as if you open a chest full of treasures. Can you ignore them?

I have Jupiter, MC, Chiron, SN on my husbands Moon, Saturn, Mars and Pluto. It feels we have a binding commitment to the core despite that we have some ego issues here and there (are Suns are square). The one thing I KNOW he has a hard time with is my Uranus. He seeks and craves stability but I like to shake it up a little; knowingly and unknowingly. Heck, *I* have issues with my own Uranus!!

I totaly agree with Jupiter aspects being important in synastry. I have with my never truly ending affair

His Sun, Mercury, Ascendant sextiles my Jupiter; his moon, mars squares my jupiter;

My Sun, venus, mars trines his Jupiter; my moon opposes his Jupiter

and our jupiters are in conjunction.

Due to other aspects, it has been a very toxic affair, going nowhere... we fight, we hurt eachother but we keep forgiving each other.. It's so easy to forgive him. Nobody has hurt me like he did but still I keep on forgiving him.

Without the jupiter aspects, I guess we could have been enemies..

I cherish squares and oppositions of Jupiter to personal planets. I would never discredit them.
while the theory seems sound, in actuality I have only very rarely come across Jupiter relating to disagreements of any kind (philosophical, how to lead life etc.), and in those rare cases I saw that it was always Jupiter square Jupiter, Jupiter square saturn or Jupiter square Sun, none of the other aspects; and in those cases there was always some harsh alignment with mercury and/ or Saturn additionall.

^^^ Yes I found that a Jupiter-Jupiter opposition in combination with hard Mercury-Mars, Mercury-Saturn interaspects really fit a description I read of Jupiter opposite Jupiter being a potentially rather big problem. I can see how it could be stimulating in other circumstances but with that person it was infuriating and cut deep. Because we both believed strongly in the goodness of our positions, to have them at odds was quite painful actually.

I am into decolonization and am teaching my daughter that the earth is a sovereign place. When she was little I would refer to our continent as Turtle Island which is what my local indigenous teachings call it. My boyfriend at the time was angry that I wasn't teaching her about the North America thing (I had mentioned it; I'm not keeping her in the dark; but I want her to have a healthy sense of realities other than those being dictated by the colonial forces/mainstream pundits, and at the time she was 3)... Anyway it was really annoying to have him telling me with such authority that I should be teaching her this way. I know he just felt it would be better for her but I see the big picture differently, you know? That's all.

Ceridwen,

Jupiter square Sun, when it comes to values/believes, is it the Sun that suffers more from square? What was it like for you? I can imagine people can't agree/don't share views on something big no matter what but who has the upper hand?

My best friend had it with an ex, her Jupiter squrae his Sun. Total disagreement. But he was a douche anyway.
He had the upper hand for a time due to her wanting to make it work somehow (other problems were worse than their philosophical disagreements), but when she left, she left. Still it took a longish time, she gave him the benefit of doubt again and again. But he simply was a psycho. So I guess no matter the astrology it wouldn`t work with anyone for him.

Another friend of mine had her Jupiter opposing my Sun-Mercury. We`ve never had even a single disagreement. Well we are not in contact anymore, but not because of any kind of bad blood, but she had to cut ties with her past completeltey after her boyfriend was killed in a motorcycle accident: she moved away and started a new life (still sees her family of course, but has cut ties with anyone else from this past) which was the way for her to survive emotionally.
Well I was part of that past, so she had to leave me behind as well.
I can understand that though, and I know should we ever meet again we will pick up just where we left, because that`s what we always do. (there has been some time of no contact before, too, just due to time-issues, but even years later when we reconnected, we would simply continue from where we left it. lol)

Yun,

oh your description fits Mr Sag and me

his Mars-Jupiter-conjunction opposes my Jupiter, and both square his Mercury on my Mars-Neptune-NN-ASC, and his SAturn squares my Mercury.

Funny thing is while there are weird things about the communication and certainly an issue to be worked on a bit. but we are pretty much on the same plate when it comes to a lot of things about political and social views in particular, also our dealings with our families (we donīt have families, we are part of a tribe actually ) and a lot more.

Though I did wonder if that might be the case cause our family origins are very very similiar. Heck we even have family in the same city (well I had, my great grandparents have died though).

That was the instant feeling I had upon meeting him, like meeting some family-member that you once knew and loved spending time with, but somehow while time passed you "forgot" about them, but of course recognized them the minute you met.
It was so bizarre that feeling of knowing him, even though he was a complete stranger, or should have been.

And then he came from that city I spent so many sundays in my childhood with; visiting his concerts always felt and still feels a little like going home and also back to my roots.

Even the jokes he makes, the little pranks, I usually can anticipate so easily, not because I relaly read his mind (though he sometims looks at me like he suspects me I can do that ) but because I would have done the same (if I had his energy and daringness. lol). Heck, in some instances I HAVE done the same, just in a smaller family context. lol

Hey there, CapriciousCappy...

Absolutely!
I'm a recent convert (of sorts).
Jupiter is the ultimate relationship "feel-good-factor".

Even the sextiles are potent. I never paid much attention, and used to think it was one of those things that everyone 'gets' and I just...don't.

But it is true! The Jupiter person is a freakin' antidote to all your bad moods and neurotic moments. Which, if you're extra neurotic, like me - you really appreciate that. Plus, I'm not inclined to *show* that side of me - but somehow the Jupiter person picks up on those things and helps alleviate them.

I only have three "Jupiter" experiences (ongoing) -

1. I'm the Jupiter person ("Feels good to make you feel good."):
Also, my Venus is mixed up with (conjunct) my Jupiter - so those aspects go hand-in-hand. I not only 'like' (Venus) this person, even when I'm exasperated by them, but also boost their moods. Not bragging, they said so themselves. In fact, the person in question talks to me every single day, at the end of their work day, coz it is a 'stress buster' and makes them 'feel really good' - things like that. Sweet!

2. The other person is the Jupiter person ("I'm your biggest fan."):
They're my biggest cheerleader. Appreciating the tiniest of good things about me, and in true Jupiter fashion, magnifying them to look great.

3. We're both Jolly Jupiter ("Mutual Admiration Society."):
Wowie. We each find the most mundane things the other does/says funny. If something makes me laugh, they'll do it a dozen times just to get the reaction again. And of course, we take turns bouying each other up. Most importantly. we have faith in each other.

P.S. I'm planning to look into my synastry with friends I have the most fun with.

If there are no other big conjunctions - do you think Jupiter/Venus DW can be a deal breaker for Love?
(Conjunction and Square)

Or is it more a nice add and a sympathy thing?

Natally, my Venus is conjunct Jupiter and my North Node in Aries. From when I was little, my friends have always told me that I was the one they called when they wanted to feel better/have a change of perspective. In fact, I have multiple friends who call me every single day. Not a bragging thing either lol - it's just literally the way I show I care about people. I have fun with them, show them the lighter side of life, have philosophical conversations with them, then tell jokes to make them laugh. It's the only kind of relationship I know how to have, if that makes sense - my friends and the people I care about bring me tons of joy and happiness and expand my horizons...I feel like that energy is projected back to them through my playfulness and happiness so its a mutually satisfying feeling being together.

I find I attract people with significant Sagittarius placements - a lot of Sag Moons or Sag on the angles. Any Aries placements are also big for me because they "feel" good - I know I can be more playful with them/have fun with them. The Aries mood swings seem to be tempered - I credit that to the Jupiter/Venus combo.

And, as you can guess, I also like Jupiter contacts in synastry. Obviously anyone touching my Venus will get the combo, but I like when another person's Jupiter touches my personal planets or angles. It's important for me to have someone a bit Jupterian or at least willing to show/explore that side of themselves with me.

I think a lot of people overlook Jupiter and Mercury in synastry. Each person is different and their chart will dictate which planet(s) are important for them in relationships. Jupiter is a big one for me personally

FmVenusWLove, I feel you...

You seem to be a lot more Jupiterian than I am. You tap into that energy so seamlessly..

For me, it's a *part* of me that's only just awakening. It's a great process of discovery, must say.

It's interesting you say what you did. My Jupiter conjuncts my boyfriend's Sun and his Jupiter doesn't touch anything in my chart. He wants to marry me, but I want to marry him as well.

Lately I've become a fan of Jupiter. It's so cheerful and happy and not overly dramatic.

Similar scenario here!

My Jupiter makes aspects to his luminaries (except to his Sag Sun) but his doesn't touch mine (but my Sag Asc conjunct his sun at 6 deg). We have venus conjunct jupiter in composite 1st house. We love to be with each other's presence all the time. I feel happy with him constantly!

^ That's true. I've seen it felt both ways, even if only one was the Jupiter person.
Makes sense, in a way - since the Jupiter person 'likes' them, or likes being with them - it would be a natural next step (when in love). Also, being the Jupiter person in synastry contacts, the *good vibes* and feelings are flowing from the Jupiter person to begin with. The planet's feelings are evoked as a reaction to what Jupiter brings to them. (No less potent though).

This will be accentuated by Venus-Jupiter or Sun-Jupiter aspects in composite. Or if the Jupiter person in synastry also has Jupiterian contacts natally. So they are 'in tune' with that energy already.
