What's better conjuncts or opposites?
It depends on individual you talk to. Some people love conjuncts, others love oppositions. It's such a subjective topic that no correct answer really can be given.
Conventional astrological wisdom says that conjunctions are better because there is no conflict of interest. However, even with the 'conflict of interest' it must be admitted that oppositions do bring the fresh and the interesting into our world, and show us a different side of life. Both aspects have their place and value in synastry.
How much we enjoy an aspect also depends on what planets are involved. Saturn/Mars conjunctions or oppositions are usually not so pleasant. Jupiter/Mars, on the other hand, can be fun (and rowdy) as either a conjunction or an opposition.
Conjunctions have an 'Aries' like vibe to them. The two planets spontaneously jump forward together in unquestioned unity, fully headed in one direction. focusing only on THAT direction together. The conjunction is rather unrestrained, and the planets don't hold much back form each other.
Oppositions have a 'Libra' like vibe to them. The two planets compare and contrast against each other, giving objectivity and balance to the connection, and the planets usually take turns expressing to each other. When working for good, each planet in an opposition makes up for what the other lacks, and cooperative team work is achieved. When working for ill, a tug-of-war type conflict can occur.
I like a bit of both conjunctions and oppositions in synastry. Best of both worlds that way.
