Hi everyone! I had a horrible relationship once that featured Mars square Saturn (2°48), Mars sq. Mars (1°47), and Sun sq. Saturn (2°). It also featured Moon sq. Saturn, but the orb was 4°42. He was the Saturn person in every one but the last. It was so depressing, so constricting, and so frustrating, and there was too much passive aggressiveness and criticism. We broke up within a month, but it was just so unhealthy. My question is, I recently met an awesome person that I have some amazing Mercury double-whammies with, and Mercury is my 5th and 8th house ruler, so those are the people I usually feel the most attraction towards. But his Saturn squares my Sun at 3°40 and my Mars at 4°20. I don't want to ever be in a relationship that had the same kind of overly-critical, harsh energy. So far, I don't feel that at all. It feels very accepting and positive. I know sometimes Saturn aspects aren't felt until later, but my question is, is this something that I should worry about? Is it doomed to automatically be a repeat of my last Saturn-dominant relationship? Are the orbs too wide to even really make a huge difference? My last relationship didn't have the amazing soft Mercury-Venus, Mercury-Mars, Mercury-Sun, and Mercury-Jupiter aspects that this one has. Will they help with the Saturn contacts? I'm hoping I'm just overreacting because of bad past experiences with these aspects. I know all relationships are different. I would deeply appreciate any input or advice. Thanks so much for your time, guys

I have both aspects natally and it's only a problem when the overall compatibility is dull. I dated someone where we had Sun-Saturn squares both ways (no more than 1 degree orb) and mars-saturn both ways. ALL hard aspects. BUT we had Sun-Sun opposition. Sun-Moon opposition. Sun-Pluto both ways hard aspects (no more than 1 degree orb). AND Sun-ASC conjunction. Venus-Venus trine (1 degree) etc so Saturn just made me want to marry him, simply put. He was my first mature relationship so I loved the stability and protective vibe it created. It was very frustrating though, but definitely not a deal breaker. We had mercury-saturn both ways also (square/ sextile). IP: Logged |

wow!! i'm really glad to know it can still work even with those aspects. i totally get what you're saying about the marriage part. I'm usually ho-hum on marriage but give me enough Saturn and i start daydreaming about it lol. thank you so much for super helpful and informative answer, I appreciate it!
