I'm a long time devotee to astrology I put a lot of faith in synastry(possibly foolish I don't care), and for the first time in many years I'm in doubt. Just a teeny bit.
Okay so this is what happened.
Last Saturday I was in a big department store waiting in line to pay. Very very busy, lots of people and I join the line half noticing this guy standing in front of me. He could have been invisible honestly. So the line is slow I’m bored I’m looking around restlessly and I notice his tattoos. As I look at them I notice some “personal info” (let’s just call it that) followed by a birthday. I highly doubt this was someone else’s birthday considering the info just above it, it was like "BORN TO BLAH BLAH BLAH" then date of birth. So I pull out my phone….now I don’t know if there’s an astrology etiquette about checking stranger’s charts without permission but I did anyway oh well too late. If I’m being honest I wanted to check if this guy was violent or angry based on how he looked.
I’m doing this out of restless boredom by the way, otherwise would not have wasted my time. So I tap tap tap away on my phone and no surprise he has a busy mars making lots of aspects. As I was about to close the page and put my phone away my eyes scan his mars sign and BAM!! We have the same mars conjunct by a degree. Okay…this is what I found in our synastry:

His venus conjunct my pluto by 0*36 degrees
Our mars conjunct by 1*07 degrees
His mars hard aspect my venus by 2 degrees
His uranus hard aspect my mars by 2 degrees
His north node conjunct my sun by 1*12 degrees
His Chiron hard aspect my Venus by 0*18 degrees
Potentially Moon conjunct my Chiron.

We kinda half made eye contact, but I cancelled it (cause he made me feel uneasy), but I was shocked I didn’t ~pick up~ any of that energy? As a crazy uranian type I’m shocked I didn’t notice another crazy uranian even though we shared uranian synastry! Is it because we didn’t make full eye contact?

Why didn’t I pick any of this up? These are all intense and electrifying connections. If it wasn’t for that slow line he would be forgotten. Does synastry have a waiting period? Or do the eyes start the chain reaction? Like what the heckity heck? You always hear about people *sensing* someone before speaking to them or even knowing they were there.

and even now as I sit back in my chair and think of him...I feel nothing. What do you think? Am I crazy for thinking standing behind a man for 5 minutes should ignite synastry?

first off the heart and feelings should lead your basis to understanding things and not the mind.

any quantum physicist will feel that everything is an illusion and feel ill because of their mind. the truth is they dont know why electrons behave and they jump to conclusions and assume things incorrectly without knowing. when any person knows that we live in a real solid world. thats when your mind can fool you

if i really like someone, i dont care about synastry. synastry may verify my feelings- it usually does. but i dont look for synastry to say why i should be feeling a way but im not.

on a side note for any over-lookers: there's a lot of talk about heart conciousness being the prime mode of being in the new age of which is starting apparently now, could it just be the leo rulership of the heart that makes us connect (since it's leo/aquarius {you cant deny the leo in the north pole south pole axis}) even aquarius bodily rulership of circulation is kind of "feely" , being connected to the flow of your body; minor to major effect on reality

I agree with this whole-heartedly. Astrology is a wonderful tool for self exploration, relationship exploration, etc., but the thing is, there are so many interpretations of everything. And to think that the only people you will have interesting synastry with are people you are meant to be in contact with is a little naive (there are so many people on this planet!), though to be fair, it's a fun thought and probably something I would have done :P

In reality, I could find synastry clues with just about anyone that say we are meant to be close in some way. The way I see it, this can only really apply once we know the people on a personal and emotional level. While not impossible, it's extremely difficult to read a chart when you know nothing about a person. The chart is a guide. The way a person handles those energies is totally unique person-to-person. I'm not saying it means nothing, but I don't find synastry to be a predictive tool in this way. In a natal chart, I can learn a lot about someone, even if I don't know much about them. But I don't know the teeny details that make them a person, and I find that to be really important in synastry. Without that, you are, as soren pointed out above re: quantum physics, making assumptions based on what you expect.

Sorry to be so long winded and I'm very sorry if this seemed aggressive! This is just my 2 cents and my Mercury in Sag works in overdrive this time of day :P

I just noticed I may have posted this in the wrong forum because this place is HUGE please forgive me mods!

Thanks for replying soren that's certainly an interesting view point. Do you use synastry at all? How will you know if someone if sneaky if you don't? Or if there are potentially bad tides ahead? I mean human instinct is second to none but astrology is a handy preventative tool.

I love Saggies, your aggression is welcome I see what you mean. We're bound to have "accidental" strong synastry with everyday people and it means nothing. I just kinda expected to sense something. Especially with that Mars-Uranus connection.

But you DID notice something. You wouldn`t have checked his birthdate, if he had left you totally unimpressed. Granted, it might just have been boredom and opportunity, on the other hand do you check EVERY chart of people you might accidentally learn their birthdate?

(additionally I think synastry needs to be activated, but that is for another day)

Kimberly yeah

cotton: you must have more mutable signs to put much thought into the future and prediction: i dont have too much. our interpretations of synastry are not always correct. but of course we can only find out by practicing and figuring stuff out in relationships where we have incredibly strong connections. first you must find this type of relationship; then you can understand the synastry.

for example my first soul mate, my moon was opposite her sun moon midpoint, and her sun was doing the same for me. i knew we would talk before we even met when i was 50 feet away. later found out the synastry.

we also both had sun square moon exact (1d)

this just shows to me, t he importance of the sun and moon beyond much else, we dont know how much emphasis to put on planets, on luminaries, etc

but however i will state even her pluto, the smallest/furthest planet, was in a significant place, even for my other gf. i believe if her pluto was somewhere else, we woudn't have been currently soulmates

For me, if I was to look at someones chart and I see venus opposite jupiter- first it tells me that they have an opposition and gravitate towards and understanding other people in which they learn about themselves. i also assume that it means their views of harmony, will be focused on philosophy and seeing philosophy as this big focus, it may be the harmony in them wants to decipher philosophy, and the same goes for vice versa, the philosophical part of them wants to understand harmony.

i cant interpret sneakiness. that's up to you to research if you can

I JUST remembered this one guy who's moon, venus and jupiter all landed in my 4th and he immediately made me feel at ease when I first saw him. Like it took seconds. Maybe it's a coincidence but whenever I hear his voice I instantly feel like I'm home. Maybe it's in the voice. The voice sets off synastry.

looking in someones eyes and feeling like home is often equated to twin-flame, or soul mate relationships. "home" is a term which means love, comfort, familiarity, a place of belonging. just because its the 4th house and 4th house is cancer which is a home body,

you are using it as a symbol as the metaphorical definition of home which is love and belonging, which is different then the physical home environment. this is why i stick out in astrology. i discard all symbolism.

for cancer that feeling of home, of love and belonging, is likely the house. but how about an aquarius, when he sees someone with cancer or 4th house placements, does he feel at home?

anyone can find someone who makes them feel like home, but you are saying it was because of 4th house placements, which rules the literal physical home.

for a sagitarious, feeling at home might be on the road.
and that has nothing to do with physical house/ garden/ cooking. its the feeling of love and belonging

i do believe in synastry, i dont like symbolic interpretations

lol wow You really don't like synastry. Nah it's purely platonic. I have deep admiration and affection for him. He's very endearing and makes me laugh. A very good, happy soul. And the synastry was felt immediately, unlike Mr Tattoo above.

Just wanted to add something.
You know when I met the above guy transit Jupiter was conjunct my moon within a degree. Which I guess is tied in with the 4th house, at a time I felt emotionally cozy. So maybe that's why I picked up his energy. Could mean for synastry to ignite transits have to be involved. Just a thought.

a cardinal sign looks at bugs, and sees what they are leaving. hence cardinal got its name because it means beginning. the start. they see the FIRST part of the bugs actions, which is of where it was, what it was doing, it almost resembles the past.
but it doesnt, it almost resembles *BEFORE*, but the present moment of before-ness. the beginning perspective from where things were doing the first

a mutable sign will see what they are going towards, why they are going to that thing.

a fixed sign will not see either, but just see things plainly. *Present time*

i was merely trying to say, you can say "he made me feel like home" in the sense that he made you feel like you were comfortable in a house.

if you were, then that's possible. If i were to look up cancer suns though, they should resonate the "home" the strongest, and yet I only feel a watery-cold vibe from them.

The 4th house is likely cancer, some say it is cancer, some say it's different but its similar. its a comparison to cancer to understand what it is.

to me its unlikely that all 12 houses would be in correlation to all 12 signs

so maybe a cancer could make someone feel like home. but to me cancer is just cardinal water and thats all, which will naturally be attributed to certain ways of being/lifestyles/perspectives on life. water is usually described as being spiritual, but from a progresion i had i felt incredibly athiestic and like everything was meaningless when i had a water progression, and when i had a fire progression, i didnt really question reality and assumed it was all working for a grande cause. which is kind of more spiritual. but then again i've had other primary direction progressions with the sun to the 12th, and i became more spiritual, and when it was in the first, i didnt believe in god

water is cold. but maybe its warm. my progression where i felt athiestic was with saturn. so maybe thats why it felt worse. thats all i can think. fire is warm. air is intellectual. earth is solid and there.

sorry i wont debate if i can tell from your next reply i might respond

He was literally a stranger lol.

Synastry is a tool used for understanding the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. You two have not even spoken. It doesn't matter how intense your synastry is, he was a stranger you would have forgotten as soon as he was out of your sight. Our horoscopes are reflections of ourselves, we're not puppets of all powerful magic balls in the sky.

Yeah, I believe if you just look at a chart you can't know for sure every aspect of synastry, i cant tell you some things i discovered, but theres a lot to synastry which i cant say.

which means you might think you had synastry, but really most soul mate connections are more than just good synastry, if i saw a girl who i felt was noticeably cuter than most other girls i saw i would assume we must have some kind of special synastry i know this is true because i've examined that the people who i gravitate have good synastry in chart.

but something you think is good synastry, might not be as good as you think= your feelings for the person are the best indicator than your mind interpretting angles

so only you know if you have good synastry with the tattoo guy based on how you felt. if you dont feel anything, then why even question it.

chiron is barely felt in a chart because its 30000 times smaller than mercury and is further in distance close to uranus.

it was the first centaur to be discovered.

and pluto is often 15 degrees above the ecliptic. i know astrologers dont like to acknowledge this; but lattitude matters for interpretations. someone who has pluto right on the ecliptic conjunct moon will actually have a conjunction; meanwhile if someone has pluto 15 degrees above the ecliptic conjunct the moon in *LONGITUDE*, its not the same type of connection. so that disregards your venus-pluto conjunction.

See there i just complicated your ideas on how good your synastry was.

which leaves mars cojnunctions. uranus-mars. mars venus. NN too.

that is not very much.

plus genetics may come into play.

wow guys...don't get ruffled up just cause of me

I've been thinking about this a lot (since I put so much faith in synastry) honestly I still don't really know why I didn't notice him. I guess we'll never know why some people immediately draw you in, while others you never notice even if they're standing right in front of you.

OP, I have to laugh at your post and question.

Yes you noticed the guy, a perfect stranger, you noticed his tatoo, you are literally given his DOB, and within seconds of this information, you checked his astrological data, and find out all sort of things about him and you.

I guess your idea of "noticing" him is that as soon as he appeared in your vicinity, there should have been your eyes should have been drawn and glued to him as though he was the only person around. lol. Nah, you noticed him allright. You actually proved the astrological aspects you were trying to disprove. Thanks for giving me a good laugh this morning
