Is Mercury very important in synastry and composite? I have these aspects with someone in synastry and composite. I've read that Mercury square Saturn is a bad aspect to have in synastry. But if one person has the aspect in their natal it's easier to deal with. The guy has Mercury square Saturn in his natal. I have Mercury sextile Saturn in my chart. His Mercury is also in my 3rd house. We do argue but when we are talking about something meaningful we don't argue.

his mercury sextiles my saturn
my mercury squares his saturn
moon conjunct mercury in composite

I'm starting to think Mercury is one of those planets that's really personal because it's hit or miss how important it is in synastry.

I know a lot of couples whose long-term synastries include either unaspected or weakly aspected Mercuries. Curious because people gasp at unaspected planets in general and yet this one seems to be quite common (in what I've seen).

Even in my own relationship history, both my ex and my current SO have unaspected Mercuries (well aspected in the composites, though). My coworker and her husband have been married 40 years and his Mercury is unaspected. Two other girlfriends of mine who are married have their Mercuries unaspected. Another couple I know...BOTH of their Mercuries are unaspected!

Sooooo...I'm going to go ahead and say I don't think it's the MOST important planet. I think you would know though, almost right away if you're able to talk to someone easily. It either feels comfortable to talk to them, or it doesn't. If you're having communication issues, the synastry MIGHT help to explain this, but it seems many couples get on just fine without a prominent Mercury on either side. I think other factors come into play, like how comfortable you are with them and if you have a strong connection in general, which may help to make communication easier.

IME, the Mercury aspects I've seen/heard about so far that lend themselves to "great" communication are Mercury/Mercury aspects (trine or sextile...maybe conjunct) and Mercury/Jupiter (soft and maybe even hard aspects it seems - makes people talk "a lot" with each other).

Ok I see thanks for your input I thought maybe Moon conjunct Mercury in composite would be good for communication.

It depends...

I personally can't date someone who at least isn't practical or level-headed. You don't have to be Einstein or anything, but at least know the basics like who Anne Frank is or what happened during pearl harbor, ya know? I badly aspected mercury is annoying.

I'm sure other factors should be considered, but if you can't even stand talking to the person, does anything else really matter? Sex is good but what happens when time passes amd other aspects of the relationship come onto clear view? You can't never not talk or share intimate thoughts with each other. It just won't work out.

Maybe only if negative aspects somehow create more excitement instead of itritation or friction. Saturn won't allow the excitement so even that is a no go if Saturn is involved.

I would say Mercury is very important.

Well I was thinking since we have Moon conjunct Mercury in composite. That maybe it would balance out the Mercury square Saturn aspect in our synastry. Or maybe it isn't that bad since we both have Mercury/Saturn aspects in our natal chart. I don't know if that would make it any better. Because my Mercury sextiles his Saturn I enjoy learning things from him etc. But because my Mercury squares his Saturn it makes it difficult sometimes. His Mercury is in my 3rd house and I read this makes for good communication.

It is! No aspect is ever "bad" (even hard aspects) because they stimulate that planet. A blending of Moon and Mercury in composite would mean emotionally satisfying conversations, or ease of expressing emotions, I would think.

My point was that you shouldn't get hung up on what XYZ aspect might mean and focus on how it feels in real life, because even couples whose Mercuries are weak or unaspected seem to make it just fine. Only if you run into problems with communication should you check to see what could be causing it, but even still I wouldn't focus on JUST Mercury because there's a lot of other things that could be the source.

That's the thing he doesn't like showing emotion. And doesn't like talking about personal things. He only likes to talk about meaningful things. Like music, science, physics, art, english etc. He says this is how he bonds with people. For example once he told me that I'll ask him a serious question but then I'll start talking about something personal and he doesn't like that. So I try to read about the things he's interested in and have discussions with him about those things. He sends me PDF's to read on subjects he likes. And then tells me to let him know when I'm finished so we can have a discussion.

Seems impossible to find the one. The guy I can easily talk to, I'm not attracted to at all. The one I can't stop thinking about, doesn't talk to me at all. Sigh..

Sorry, having a pity party for myself
