Is this aspect as bad as it sounds? I've read hard aspects between Saturn and NN is very difficult, and I've also read it's so binding that the two people can't stay away from each other. Although, other aspects likely had a hand in that. But I'm sure the Saturn/NN played a big part.

I mean, the NN is very karmic, isn't it? Combine that with Saturn, and it should be significant.

Let's just say for sake of argument, it's a tight orb, like 2 degrees.

I have this aspect dw with a man I dated last year and we can't seem to fully let go although we live hours away. We also have other saturn aspects. He is the love of my life romantically. Unfortunately we aren't together like that at the moment.

My relationship with him coincided with Saturn's transit of my 12th house, and ingress into my 1st, and obviously continues to this day in it's present form. Decidedly karmic, yes, but at the time I was all unaware of how or why. I have more clarity now. It seems that these, relationships stand the test of time/endure long, rather, because it simply takes a very long time to even work out what the karma is.

For my part as the node person I feel very dedicated to him on a soul level, and very forgiving of his need for time and space, and patient with his process. I understand the difficulty he faces as Saturn, and can only hold space lovingly while he works through his very significant issues around fatherhood especially (a Saturn theme, of course).

There was an excellent thread on this somewhere... I'll see if I can find it for you (or maybe you've read it?). In almost every example and testimony provided it was evident that this is a very fateful, binding, life long connection in most cases. It isn't easy, per se, but it's intense, significant and meaningful...

Saturn generally can only do what they're prepared to do for the node person. The node person influences the Saturn person's journey very much, in that they are greatly affected by the Saturn person's developing maturity, and very sensitive to it. Their destiny is affected by Saturn's ability to "be there," be responsible, be accountable for their actions.

Well... at least mine has been.

Wow. Yeah, I don't think I read that thread you mentioned. I get this feeling that this aspect (not alone itself, but plays a significant role all things considered) makes people want to stay together. It's not romantic (at least I don't think) but there is this incessant need to remain together, and one or both don't know why. At least, that's the conclusion I got.

I'm the Node, and she the Saturn.

It is worth noting that my Saturn is either conjunct the South or North Node of the following people in my life:

My mother (SN)
My daughter (NN)
My partner (SN)
And two close, meaningful friends (can't recall which node for each, but they're very significant connections)

So I think it's actually the case that, since 1964, every single time the nodes have been in a position to conjunct my Saturn, a very significant person to me was born... it's fascinating...

Saturn-Nodes is, as you intuited or surmised, very much a thing.

Hello,
I have this with my boyfriend, my saturn squares his nodes (orb 1.5 degrees).
We first met 6 years ago, we started seeing each other but life pulled us apart again. He's always been a part of my life, we eventually became good friends and years later we found each other again on a romantic level. He never let go of me and I didn't let go of him. It's almost like he knew we would be together again sometime.
We have more aspects but I think this one is specifically important because it has provided the patience and personal growth that was needed for both to eventually come together again.

Other aspects:
NN conjunct SN (4 degrees) - not great I heard
Saturn square Sun - also a glue aspect
Vertex conjunct Sun
Mars / Pluto conjunct Venus
Ascendant opposite Ascendant
Moon in 1st house
Moon in 8th house
Sun / Venus in 5th house
Venus conjunct Descendant
Ceres conjunct Ceres
Vesta conjunct Venus
POF conjunct Venus
Sedna conjunct Sedna
Mercury conjunct Mercury
Mercury conjunct Sun
Mars conjunct Sun
Neptune conjunct Sun
