I vaguely remember you once pointed out that you use semisquares/ sesisquares and that they tell a "story".
Can you elaborate on that again?
And how would you see their intensity and power compared to the other aspects?
Which orb do you use?

(I am of course mainly interested in Event composites and similiar predictive charts for synastry)

I wish I had a really well thought out answer which incorporates the sequence of the semi- and sesquisquares, their cyclical significance within the context of the grand cross which would be considered--they of course form another grand cross, which is significant, and which echoes the original squares/conjunction and opposition to any midpoint mathematically, and is congruent with their energy by some magic of mathematics. I can say that they seem to trigger midpoints effectively, that I have observed their efficacy and significance on numerous occasions, and honestly don't distinguish all that much between a square or a semi/sesquisquare except to note that the effects are slightly more diffuse. I use a one degree orb with semi and sesquisquares to midpoints, and I am still journeying with my understanding of their real significance. I was confused about whether to use the 90 or the 45 degree modulus for a while and honestly have been noticing that especially with event charts, return charts, etc., the 45 degree dial is more concise, accurate and to the point--but must admit that I need help, because I still don't know which aspects are actually represented by each! Only that I can choose either one (or others, of course, including the standard 360 degree dial, which I definitely understand ) when sorting midpoints in SolarFire.

I am torn in this regard as well, though I tend to use both I think, the 90 and occasionally 45 wheel but also the 180 because the direct midpoints are in their own "league" for me.

I was just wondering lately, cause I stumbled across some form of eventchart, where this might be interesting.

I made a Davison of my natal with P`s current lunar return (like in an old thread we had, remember?).

I thought it was interesting what came up for him.

In this Davison (of his lunar return and my natal) he has a T-square of

Moon opposite Neptune 0°16
Moon square Sun 0°16
Sun square Neptune 0°00

(22 degrees cardinal; Sun-Libra, Moon-Cancer, Neptune-Cap)

If I use the semisquare/ sesisquare as well this means he has any possible interrelation between Moon-Sun-Neptune.

Sun opposite Moon/Neptune 0°08
Moon sesisquare Sun/Neptune 0°16
Neptune sesisquare Sun/Moon 0°08

I am very tempted to deem this important.

See that's exactly why they are important, because when you have a complete grand cross like that, the midpoint activation is going to be correlated to the "ghost" grand cross formed by the semi and sesquisquares.

AbsoLUTELY it is important!

Yes, it is.
In the german book I have been reading on midpoints, he gives a priority-list, and among those that are formed with 2 or at least one personal angle or luminary, he puts up to the top the 3 fold permutations, something like
Sun= Jupiter/Uranus, Jupiter=Sun/Uranus, Uranus=Sun/JUpiter

He uses the 45 dial (with 1,5 degrees actually).

Personally I tend to limit it to 1 degrees and 0°30 for the 8th harmonic aspects, and considering those within 15 minutes of orb as "peaking - exactness-climax" - mostly because Bernadette Brady emphasized this (well, she sais it is 12 minutes, but I expanded to 15 minutes), and just today stumbled across an astrologer posting the 15 minutes figure as well, so I?d stick with this - talking about event charts of course, and this is just the high-phase, the peak, of course anything under 1 degree will be important.

Anyway, permutations....

Those permutations would constitute a strong theme, if they are present (not every chart has them of course).

But it is totally impossible that all three of them would appear as direct midpoints, unless there was a very tightorbed stellium or conjunction with opposition.

For example if you have a T-square, you will have a direct midpoint probably, but you also will have semisquares/sesisquare (which dissect the squaring planets).

In the very least I would consider them in that way as important.
I also noticed of course that they are very present in the lunar cycle.

The question for me is really, they are not really midpoints (conjunction and oppositions are), they are aspects to midpoints, squares, semisquare and sesisquare - which is why they are called indirect.

I`d think them as important, but not as prominent as direct midpoints.

And also in the three-fold-permutations I would see them as supporting factors to the direct midpoint that was present.
Sort of like they were supporting actors to the main act on stage, if you know what Imean?

I am just putting some thoughts out here. lol

Interestingly in our EVD with the last meeting we had P AND me both had such threefold-permutations (in the Davison between event and natal). And when I tuned in onto these, it just made so much sense and the clarity of the picture emerging was just breathtaking - I rarely get that astro-tingle (anymore), but THAT was such an instance. When you look down on something and KNOW this is important, this is worthy to be stored in memory for a quick access to really central themes.

Of course there are several approaches to figure out the central themes, but THIS would be one.
Permutations.

BTW for that I expanded the orb to 1°30, as we have three planets in mutual relationship to each other I thought it made sense, though my dominant picture was very tightly orbed actually.

And what really nearly made me choke on my coffee, was to see HOW and to WHAT these pictures were connected in the natal charts.

Additionally the pictures were either including angles, or one of the planets was conjunct an angle, and hence foreground.

This I found important because it meant that these permutations were only existent - and / or foreground - WITHIN a couple of minutes, the exact time this encounter took place!

My permutations that day (Event-Davison)
(only these who have one direct midpoint)

-----------------------------------------

(1) Moon-Jupiter-ASC

Moon opposite Jupiter/DESC 0°55
Jupiter sesisquare Moon/ASC 1°15
ASC semisquare Moon/Jupiter 0°24

Moon: 14 Cancer
Jupiter/DESC: 13 Capricorn

his name in my natal chart falls onto 13 Capricorn
our basic Davison ASC is on 13 Capricorn and Karma on 14 Capricorn

(2)
Uranus-Node-MC

Uranus opposite Node/MC 0°07
Node sesisquare Uranus/MC 0°07
MC sesisquare Uranus/Node 0°10

Uranus conjunct his nVenus 0°38
Node/MC falls onto his nJuno 1°02

I was of course having Node conjunct IC (0°12) in that EVD which fell onto his own natal Venus/Juno-mp and squaring each of these planets.

He was having following permutations

(1) Saturn-Juno-Vertex

Juno opposite Saturn/Vertex 0°33
Vertex sesisquare Saturn/Juno 0°28
Saturn semisquare Vertex/Juno 1°01

none of the planets/ Points aligns directly with my chart however, my ASC fell onto his Juno/Vertex-midpoint

his Juno/Vertex 7°42 Sag
my ASC 7°01 Sag

which I found interesting as he additionally had Pluto on 7°42 Sag, so Pluto was precisely conjunct Juno/Vertex as well.

(2) Mercury-Venus-Uranus

Venus conjunct Mercury/Uranus 0°22
Mercury semisquare Venus/Uranus 1°17
Uranus semisquare Mercury/Venus 1°39

- a tad wide, but the direct midpoint is pretty close

Venus: 10°59 Pisces
my name in his chart: 9°10 Pisces
my Ceres: 9°32 Pisces
my Jupiter, chartruler: 11°12 Pisces
my NN: 10°09 Sag

(3) Pluto-Node-MC

Node conjunct Pluto/MC 1°20
Pluto sesisquare Node/MC 1°07
MC sesisquare Pluto/Node 0°13

Pluto conjunct my ASC (0°41)
IC conjunct my ASC (1°17)
SN conjunct my name in his chart (0°11)
SN conjunct my Ceres (0°11)
SN conjunct my Jupiter (1°52)

Pluto/IC falling onto my ASC (0°59)
