You will read from time to time that Leo and Libra, in an opposite sex relationship, are best described as “Two Ships Passing in the Night.” The phrase apparently derives from Longfellow's, Tales of a Wayside Inn. It's a quaintly worded but sad piece of writing, readily available on the web.

Much as sun sign astrology lacks in depth and offers only vague generalizations, I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't a great deal of truth to this old saw about two ships and the Lion/Scales relationship. In my experience with the Lioness it has played out more or less as Longfellow wrote. What a shame. Given the chance to mingle in port rather than pass close by on the high seas. It seems to me Leo and Libra would offer much for each other.

Yes, I know some of you are going to say, “It depends on the two charts,” Nonethelesss I'd be interested to hear about your personal experiences.

I had a Libra Sun friend who left his family to be with Leo Sun female. She then cheated with his friend and left the country. Last I heard he was still pining for her, while she was living it up elsewhere while slinging him the occasional carrot by text.

I like how poetically you write btw.

"slinging carrots by text" - that's one I'll have to watch out for. Special app required, no doubt?

Voix, if you can excuse further nautical analogy, it sounds to me like your friend was a badly listing ship that got rammed broadside and sank.

Maybe it's just as well that Leo and Libra do pass in the night. Thanks for relaying that case from your files.

How strange. My dad always says this to me because he works nights and I go to school/work during the day and we hardly see each other. I just looked this phrase up online today.. Super creepy.

He's a Cancer Scorpio moon, I'm an Aries Virgo moon.

My sister, a Leo is dating a Libra man. They haven been together for about two years, and she seems to be pretty into him. I will say that it doesn't look like paradise on the outside, but they're still together.

I have charmed a couple Leo women myself being a Libra man. Libras (myself included) love putting a smile on someone's face, even if the relationship is platonic. Leos eat up compliments, flattery, humor, and subtle gestures without hesitation. The interactions are quite magical between these 2, in my experience.

Never worked out in the long run though. So perhaps they are 2 ships passing in the night...

Lacey, yes, - it's creepy, haunting, sad and also makes you wonder about missed opportunities, destiny and more.

For those who don't have the time to look up Longfellow's passage, here it is, copied from a web source:

1874, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Tales of a Wayside Inn, part 3, section 4:

Ships that pass in the night, and speak each other in passing,
Only a signal shown and a distant voice in the darkness;
So on the ocean of life we pass and speak one another,
Only a look and a voice, then darkness again and a silence.

I wish I could remember the source that makes reference to the Leo-Libra relationship.

Yes, I know some lovely Leo ladies who would never do that, but hey, we knew we were entering Sergeant General territory here.

The Carrot App - definitely a gap in the market!

The Carrot App - brilliant. We can bundle it with the Buzz Off App and the Honey, I Need You Back App.

My parents got along so well most of the time. Looking back, it's almost weird how little tension there was. Occasionally my mother got mad at my father over family politics. Major issue, bad fighting, a few times in my life. Not fighting, really...my dad would just leave the house.

Other than that it was extraordinary how well they cooperated.

My father was a Libra sun, Leo moon
My mother was a Leo sun, Virgo or Libra moon

Their suns were sextile, his moon not conjunct her sun.
