Hey guys,

Just wondering what your thoughts are on whether conjunctions to your partner's sun/Venus midpoint are significant in synastry?

I just noticed that his sun is conjunct my sun/Venus midpoint and my sun is conjunct his sun/Venus midpoint - with less than 1 degree orb in both cases.

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the significance in this area. Any comments or observations are most welcome. Thank you.

yesterday I was jokingly calling our VenusDiSirius with the name of Venus de Milo, telling her that it either represents Aphrodite or Amphitrite, or both.....

and there you are - Amphitirite :-D

but yes, a 1' degree conjunction to a midpoint is called a direct midpoint, it's as strong as a ptolemaic aspect if not even stronger than trines and sextilles. It;s definitely felt by the owner of the midpoint.

Thanks Orange! I find it pretty amazing that we have a double whammy of that particular midpoint. Do you think it would be felt maybe in a similar way to a sun/venus conjunction in synastry? I'm not really sure how a midpoint connection is felt versus a typical planet or angle connection.

Bump..

Any in-depth information or experience out there about this?

Or about mid-point Vs planet experiences, generally - Who feels what and all that?

I'm searching on the net, haven't come across much that is particularly in depth.

I have read some articles about planets hitting that midpoint and in my notes I wrote that it stimulates love and romance. I think it is pretty subtle.

I keep track of a variety of midpoints in synastry and this is what I have found: in important synastry, a lot of midpoint activation will occur. However, it is only providing back up support to powerful synastry that already exists. This is also true for the composite- it will be a strong composite that strengthens further by making solid connections with each natal chart.

So, to me, these are all layers, like an onion. Powerful synastry is the first thing we see. But as we continue to dig, we will discover more and more impact and connections. The relationships that affect us the most will always have all the layers.

My personal experience is that midpoints are not in and of themselves all that powerful. They are ambience. I have met two people with points on my Sun/Moon midpoint, reported to be quite strong, and the interaction was fleeting. The lasting effect is more that I remember them and they gave me insight on myself, but it didn't amount to a big relationship altogether.

StoneMoon, nice summary..

It's good to remember where mid points and other periphery items sit in the hierarchy of the onion. To keep things in perspective. You put that very well.

We all seem to still like to digging around on all layers because we can't help ourselves

Thanks, and I agree, it's felt very softly, and after all else is a done deal.
