Saturn Conjunct the Angles in Synastry——-Good or Bad or Both?

I, usually, have my mind occupied with God, Astrology or reading. My guilty pleasure is Stephen King. I am just finishing “Under the Dome”. If any of you have read that, it is a world of it’s own, as are most of King’s books, but back to the subject. Saturn is very interesting when it conjuncts the Angles in Synastry. The Angles are the Ascendant, IC, Descendant and MC. The angles are very personal. I say that they are like one’s underwear. One wears it close to one’s body. Most people don’t see it. The ones that do see it have a special relationship with one. This analogy breaks down, a bit, when we discuss the Ascendant and MC, which everyone sees. However, everyone does SEE it, but it still FEELS very personal and intimate, when another person touches it. I hope that has helped, some. Onto the subject.

Saturn can be good or bad, positive or negative, a gift or a challenge. Saturn can be a kind, but strict paternal figure or Saturn can be an unrelenting taskmaster. The difference would be in the ASPECT. In the hard aspects, Saturn is the latter. In the easy aspects, Saturn is the former. With respect to the subject of this article, Saturn conjunct the Angles does not give us enough information to tell us about Saturn in the entire relationship. We can see how it would play out with the angles. That is quite a bit of information, but not enough to form a conclusion about the nature or viability of the relationship.

Saturn Conjunct the Ascendant

The Saturn person would feel as if he cared very much for the Ascendant person. The Saturn person would feel like a grounding and stabilizing force to the Ascendant person. The Ascendant person may feel stifled by the Saturn person, but the rest of the synastry is needed to tell us if this is the case. However, there would be a bond formed between the two.

Saturn Conjunct the IC
The Saturn person would feel as if he were the one trying to induce discipline and maturity in the IC person. The Saturn person would, likely, feel like a parental figure. The IC person may feel vulnerable. The IC person may like the parental thrust of the Saturn person or he may not. One would need to see the entire synastry to form an opinion on that. There would be a bonding between the two, though.

Saturn Conjunct the MC
The Saturn person may give advice about the career and/or reputation of the MC person. The advice could be wanted or unwanted. The advice could help the MC person to feel more stable and more secure in his career. The MC person could very much appreciate the input of the Saturn person or he could resent it. That would need to be ascertained by the entire synastry chart.

Saturn Conjunct the Descendant
In this case, the Saturn person may try to set the parameters of the relationship. The Saturn person may push for a commitment. The Descendant person may or may not like this. The Saturn person may push the Descendant person to be more responsible, especially in terms of the relationship. The Saturn person may push for a monogamous relationship. The Descendant person may feel very loved and cherished or may feel as if he is in a rut or an unwanted vise. One would know this by the rest of the synastry chart.

I know two men with Saturn closely conjunct my Ascendant.

One is significantly older and a very close, comforting and quite paternal friend.

The other is a kind of ex who judges, disapproves and want to control and stifle me.

So yes it depends greatly upon the maturity, the choices and the warmth of the Saturn native. The age itself is immaterial, rather the level of evolution and wisdom.

I don't know anyone who has Saturn conjunct my Ascendant but I know someone who has their Saturn in my first house - they are my superior and there is age difference but is not very significant - they are a few years younger. Mixed feelings with this one but it does not feel suffocating or critical at all.

Someone who has Saturn conjunct my MC used to be my boss. They were quite nasty in their overall manner so it was not a nice one - lots of undeserved criticism and snappiness but that was mostly due to their approach to work and employees.

I have my Saturn very close to someone's Descendant, most likely falling in to their 6th house rather than 7th. There was a sense of commitment and loyalty from the beginning along with true care for the well being of the person; I suppose I did want them to be more responsible and careful in their overall behaviour and approach to me, as I was to them.
