I've always heard that it's not a good idea to meet a new person for a first date during Mercury or Venus retrograde but I never really believed it until this current retrograde.

I met someone the first week of the retrograde (so 3 weeks ago) and we've been exclusively seeing each other ever since, until yesterday when he suddenly said he didn't think this would work long term and ended things abruptly. He blindsided me with the breakup, which I hear is common with a breakup that occurs right smack dab in the middle of a retrograde period. My question is whether any of you see near future transits to our composite chart that might herald a reconciliation. I've also heard that breakups during Mercury and Venus retrograde aren't permanent and will not split you two up forever; they say that the two people usually reconcile soon after Mercury ends retrograde and goes direct.

*It's interesting to note that Saturn entering Capricorn today means that it's currently conjuncting our composite North Node. I wonder if this breakup was fated to happen?

Not transits, but progressions.

The progressions are strong for friendship, but not so much for romance...at first glance.

His pMoon has recently left Libra, which most likely propelled him to seek relationships.

Your pMoon entering Sagittarius is conjunct his natal moon, that's where I'm getting the friendship overtones.

If reconciliation is to occur, most likely it will happen at the next retrograde.

verdict: friendship at most.
