I have this with my gran, among a bunch of unfavourable aspects, such as Uranus conjunct Pluto opposite Mars. The Saturn square Moon aspect seems to be quite unbreakable in our case. I've been living with her for most of my life, even though our connection is not very good, even difficult at times. We often butt heads with the Uranus/Pluto Mars opposition, it's classic for not letting each other just be as we are, we often impose on each other in ugly ways, often get into battles/power struggles, getting in each others way. Sometimes has an extelemy limiting effect on my life and future, it feels like she has stopped me from realising some of my significant dreams and desires. Very little tolerance for how the other one lives their life also. Anyway, I digress. The Saturn square Moon can keep the relationship going and you two physically close to each other even if you do not work well with one another. But it is obviously karmic in our case, there are things to clear up / build up on between us. Our nodes are square exact, with her North node being on my Moon and her South node being on my Venus. I think it's funny my Venus is on her South node - obviously she has provided for me most of my life, been thinking about this one and why it has been playing out this way, but I suppose things can go vice versa - Venus being depleted through the South Node influence. Feeling a bit apprehensive having to think about the tables turning around, but I don't think that's likely to happen.
Getting this out here makes me feel this bond's challenge now might be to be broken even though the chains are so thick.

I would tend to think that in superficial relationships the Saturn square Moon in Composite might keep you apart rather than together, but then who knows, you'd have to look at everything. It does feel very binding but also quite suffocating when the rest of the chart is pretty bad. No wonder I am separated from my mother and father - I don't think we have any seriously binding aspects.

Thank you. I've experienced the opposition and felt the relationship was quite cold and that the coldness was primarily coming from the other person rather than "the relationship". I wondered if the square would be worse and sounds like it is.

Saturn contacts in your synastry can cause this too. Did you have any of those?

No, we actually lack saturn contacts. Well... there is saturn conjunct mars in synastry- but it's a wide conjunction at 8 degrees.

I had the square in a very emotionally intense union that lasted on and off for 7 years.

BUT we DID have Moon-Pluto double whammy in synastry.

Plus, we had a composite Scorpio stellium in the 7th with Pluto conjunct moon EXACT along with Pluto conjunct Sun, Mercury, Venus. Saturn also squared the entire stellium.

Emotionally intense, very.

Looking back though and after maturing, it wasn’t love.

It was an ‘emotional contract’ of some sort filled with karma and inexperience. We felt binded to the other just based off, history, familiarity, and an intense desire to control each other.

Saturn binds, but if other parts of the Composite/ Synastry are lacking, Saturn also tortures you.

If other parts of the Composite/ Synastry are positive, Saturn provides and secure ‘bubble’ under which the couple can flourish. It all depends on the rest of the chart.

Saturn is ‘glue’ regardless. Are you going to be glued to negative nancy or Positive Peter? that’s the question.

I am in the best relationship of my life, currently.
I love him to pieces and wouldn’t trade him for the world.

We have Composite Saturn inconjunct Moon at almost 2 degrees. We also have Composite Saturn conjunct ASC. Uranus and Neptune trine Sun, Moon, Mercury swuares mars and jupiter. Moon and mars in the Conposite 8th house.

The inconjunct is rearing its ugly head with his family.
My boyfriend is a Cancer. We are currently working through issues regarding boundaries and his female relatives.

We have mercury-saturn, mars-saturn, venus-Saturn double whammies in synastry.

We are both very Saturian natally.

I definitely agree with OutofIdeas, I would say only superficial relationships feel that ‘coldness’ everyone associates with hard Saturn aspects, as was the case with my ex.

Otherwise, it’s just two very cautious and serious people trying to love each other. It adds a certain level of formality and reserve (and we are like that as individuals anyway), but nothing is emotionally lacking.

I prefer Moon-Saturn in composite.

Saturn= Security.

Saturn isn’t here to make you happy.
That’s not his job.

Ehh, look for Jupiter and Uranus for the happiness.

SideNote: I have Moon trine Saturn 1 degree natally.
