Is it just me or does this make things feel really awkward between two people? I've had friends and past interests that did not aspect my moon or I don't aspect them and I've always felt so awkward. There's been people whose Saturns make a hard aspect to my Moon, yet I feel more comfortable around them than I do the latter. I just can't seem to "get" such people who have this with me in synastry. Everything else could be aspected, but if the moon is not, chances are, we won't really connect.

I feel like an unaspected moon can make or break a relationship. What do you think?

I think overlays to the 4th house, and also the IC ruler making aspects to the others IC ruler or planets would help offset this.
Moon conjunct ASC or DSC of the other person or in the 1st or 7th will also help or conjunct the ruler of the others 1st or 7th. Also having moons in compatible elements would help, so earth-water, fire-air or in the same element, even if not in aspect will help greatly.

Not for me, I feel more comfortable around my dad who I have an unaspected moon and venus with, then I do my brother whose moon conjuncts mine, and makes a bunch of positive aspects to both charts.

I get you but it depends, like when I don't have moon aspects but their moon falls in my 4th or vice versa I feel very comfortable with them.

Example: His moon fell on my 4th and paralleled my Moon.

Example: His moon falls right on my IC and opposes my Sun, his moon also parallels my Pluto and my moon trines his Pluto.

Example: His venus (chart ruler) in the 4th house conjuncts my 4H ruler and this falls in my 8th house, comfort and intimacy is strong.

So no just bc you don't have moon aspect moon does not mean you won't feel comfortable and safe and at home with other.

With my ex we had moon conjunct and parallel moon plus my southnode conjunct his IC and Vertex and 7th house Ruler on his IC all squaring my Moon right on his DC. I felt so comfortable with him I kissed him the moment I saw him LOL.

Very interesting!

Does your dad have stuff falling in your 4th house?? or do you have stuff falling in his 4th house? Or do either of you aspect each other's 4th house ruler?

I agree my moon is unaspected but the persons moon falls in my 4th house. This person feels like family to me. And I feel comfortable with them. It's not like that with other people.

If his time of birth is correct, my moon conjuncts his ic.

I have an out of bond Moon ( 28' in declinations) in Gemini, and my Moon feels enough on her own, so not having aspects /being unaspected in synastry is okay with me, I am fine, I am already too much on my own.
When there are good aspects, I feel it immediately, we get all chirpy and excited out of nothing, we be jumpy. But when there are hard aspects from hard planets like Satty or Mars or Sun, it's bad, my out of bond Moon doesn't like to be squared. It is not working, at all.

My natal Gemini Moon is also OOB. I welcome harmonious synastry aspects. Greatest love of my lifetime has Out of Bounds Libra Moon in trine.

This all fits my experience: https://mountainastrologer.com/tma/over-the-top-stories-from-the-out-of-bounds/

OOB natal Moon can be very intuitive; have transparent emotional boundaries; be connected to the subconscious; live a highly emotional life; and have an empathetic nature.
