Nothing if the two people aren't naturally aggressive.

If they're more temperamental, it can get ugly.

A lot of synastry charts between people who were in an abusive relationship show a Mars / Uranus connection, sometimes Mars / Saturn or even Neptune.
Actually, Mars in hard aspect to *anything* has the potential to lead to violence / abuse.

I wouldn't be too scared of Mars / Pluto, personally.
Maybe because I've had it so many times, it just doesn't seem very dangerous. More like.. super sexy.

Doux Rêve, *whew* I'm glad to hear you don't put too much emphasis on Nessus. I never did either, but I've been studying up on asteroids lately and was getting concerned about these Nessus aspects I have with my partner. Also, you're right on about "Mars + Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto hard aspects." I had Mars conjunct Pluto (his Mars, my Pluto) with an ex, and that was the most abusive relationship I ever had. We had lots of other intense aspects, too, though.

Sorry to hear that, saturn_rising.
Hope it's never going to happen again.

What aspects does your Mars make, natally?

I hope you'll never have to go through abuse, cappy.
There's potential (!) with that aspect but I know you know it already.
Just keep your eyes open!

Thank you, Doux Rêve. <3
My Mars actually does not make many aspects to the rest of my chart. It is trine my Ascendant and that's it. As for asteroids, it is conjunct my Aphrodite, opposite my Psyche, and square my Spirit and Siva.

You're welcome, saturn_rising.
Hmm. No afflicted Mars, then..
What does your DSC do? Any planets in the 7th?
What about your Sun?
I'm trying to figure out where the abuse came from, in your natal chart (usually there are indicators).

I have a Cancer Descendant (with my Part of Fortune directly conjunct it), but no planets in my 7th house! I do however have Nessus in the 7th. My Sun does have some affliction: Sun opp Moon (by 1 degree), Sun opp Saturn, Sun opp Pluto (but a rather wide orb). I also have Moon conjunct Saturn and Pluto, and Capricorn Rising. I know you said you don't put too much into asteroids, but I have Sun conjunct Dejanira (asteroid of being the victim of abuse and of submission), as well as Nessus square Dejanira. I read once that Nessus square Dejanira is an "abuse magnet."

Now that's interesting, because the Sun traditionally represents the 'husband' in a woman's chart, or more generally the kind of partner she's likely to attract.
And your Sun just happens to be afflicted by both Saturn and Pluto - the two bad guys.
Makes sense.

I also have Moon conjunct Saturn and Pluto

Here again, the same theme is repeated, but it's even more emphasised because the Moon rules your DSC, which represents your partner / relationship.
The conjunction isn't that bad though.

There may be something to it..

Take good care of yourself!

Thanks for the info. Luckily this relationship was a long time ago, and I'm now in a healthy, very non-abusive relationship!

Look for the "Black Aspects"

There may be an easier way to read and understand complicated Synastry pie chart aspects. Pie chart aspects can also be produced onto a basic Synastry Aspect Chart. Review the sample chart at your leisure. It may help you gain even more insight than you currently have.

I think the worstest would have lots of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, but also Moon and Saturn.

I just found this thread. I had a man enter my life that appeared classic narcissistic. I found out after I dumped him within 3 weeks that his girlfriend of 12 years wasn't happy about our affair. She was dumb enough to stay and 9 months later he popped up again in my life, and me being bored was like sure... you can hang out with me again lol. However, i quickly learned that he and her were indeed not broken up like he said.

I just now looked up his chart. It is odd... MY Leo nessus is conjunct HIS moon and north node, exact. I mean, it makes sense...

HIS nessus is conjunct MY Cancer venus.

He did abuse my love. But I do believe I have highly disrupted his emotional and mental balance, and life path for that matter. I believe his girlfriend of 12 years finally left him.

Of topic, but my lucifer is right on his chiron wound as well. I imagine I shed a painful amount of light on his wounds. Not sure how that will alter his path at all...because his ass is blocked!

There's no such thing as a single synastry aspect that is 'fatal'. The energies of all the planets in our own charts or in inter-aspects with others' are just that -- energies we have the power to channel in various ways, even to transmute from negative into positive.

As listed in the original post, it is aspect patterns, aggregate effect of numerous aspects together that show there may be an unhealthy dynamic to the relationship unless both parties are living out the responsibilities of healing and awakening.

This is further supported from the self-reports of people commenting in this thread.

Fear is promoted and more damage done by astrologers who personally have too many issues of their own with abuse, alerting to it too quickly and easily, even over-alerting to astrological factors that might seem to be the culprits in bad relational outcomes.

Folks, it is not our planets that relate to each other. It is WE souls being humans.

There is NO single synastry aspect that makes bad outcomes. Even a few stressful or challenging so-called bad aspects do not make a relationship turn out bad or end. It is what you bring or don't bring to the relationship that feeds a good or bad outcome.

If I used the kind of astrology logic seen here in this sub-forum to choose a mate, I'd still be looking -- and I would not have married my wife.

Seriously -- learn astrology fundamentals thoroughly before attempting synastry assessment. It is important to have a well rounded knowledge of astrology as well, meaning the ability to work with transits and progressions so as to apply synastry assessment in reasonable fashion. Synastry dynamics astrologically speaking are more like transits to our own charts, requiring similar orbs, and with a very similar ranking of planetary influences (Sun, Jupiter, outer planets very influential), but with the added matter of Venus=affection, Mercury=communication.
