I recently decided to find a therapist to help work through some personal issues (transiting Uranus is square my moon and I'm basically going crazy, haha). I'm an obsessive researcher and intended to investigate pretty much every therapist in my area before choosing someone, but while browsing, I saw one therapist's picture and had a gut feeling saying "THIS ONE!" and I emailed him before even finishing reading his bio. Just felt the vibe so strongly and trusted it.

Turns out he incorporates astrology, tarot, and chakras into his psychotherapy sessions (he didn't mention that in his bio so I didn't know it when I emailed him), and has had an extremely similar life path to mine. We haven't had our first session yet, but I got him to share his astrology placements and of course I'm now analyzing it from a therapist/client angle.

I've never had a therapist before, but this looks really good to me. Sun in each other's 8th house, his Chiron conjunct my north node, his Mercury conjunct my sun and Mercury, double whammy of sun/Karma... his Neptune is trine my moon and his Uranus sextiles it. And his Aries moon on my Venus/Jupiter.

The composite has sun, Venus, and moon in the 8th house, Pluto on the ascendant trine moon, and Jupiter on the IC.

I just have one hangup. I feel like this person could actually be a really good friend, given incredibly similar histories and interests, and I'm wondering if the best use of this connection is client/therapist or something more personal. I know the professional boundaries would limit anything outside the office, and I don't meet a lot of people where I'm like OMG BE MY FRIEND PLEASE. Any thoughts?

I am a therapist and he can't ever be your friend, he already saw you for a session.

There are clients I meet that I think to myself if they weren't my clients I could see myself been friends with them. Sometimes you have a client were there is clearly sexual tension between the two of you but you can't ever act on it. Any therapist who is a professional and cares about their profession would never cross that line.

Its interesting been a therapist, for example, I have somewhat sexual tension with this GAY guy who is not my type anyways and this older lady in her 60s and I am straight and I have venus conjunct pluto with both very tight, mind you I am not interested in them like that but I feel this strong connection with both and there is some sexual tension. However, I am providing great support to both of them bc therapy is about the connection, they feel extremely understood and supported by me, my empathy for them is off the charts and comes off super authentic so venus conjunct pluto is a good aspect to have actually in this context but I can sense the transference and counter-transference that comes along with it although is minimal and its not an issue, this aspect actually has been helpful in me providing them with what they NEED, they feel truly cared by me.

Looking at your composite I feel that you can have a great therapeutic bond and connection, he would clearly care for you as your therapist which is great bc you will feel supported and you two will have a truly authentic connection that will help you work through your issues in a nonjudgmental way.

I feel you two do have a powerful composite but saturn is making sure that connection stays professional.

Like Venus ruling your composite chart conjuncting the Sun in the 8th is very binding and significant but is also squaring Saturn in the 5th which I feel keeps the relationship in check so it stays professional. Saturn is denying the relationship from becoming romantic or about pleasure since saturn restricts and the 5th house is the house of fun, romance and pleasure.

For example with my dad and my uncle I have in composite/davison mars conjunct tightly uranus and pluto but that stellium opposes Saturn in both cases, I have a wonderful relationship with both, a deep bond and boundaries were never crossed but I feel if saturn was not opposing that stellium I might be telling you a different story potentially (at least in the case of my uncle). Saturn helps with boundaries in relationships were boundaries need to be there.

Hypatia, thank you so much for the wonderful insights. Especially since you can speak from experience! SUPER reassuring -- and Saturn in the 5th definitely seems like it would help the focus stay professional, as well as his Saturn on my sun/Mercury.

We actually haven't had our first session yet. Just emails exchanging information. I wanted to post this before making an appointment just to make sure I'm not forever ruining what would better be a friendship, since, as you said, those professional boundaries are pretty immovable. Thank you so much for your replies.

Ohhh Huh.........well if you haven't had your first session and you are just researching that is different........

Lets see what others say....

I guess the beauty of your situation and that he was open about his birthdate information ect is that you can disclose to him via email your concern that you wonder if you would be better as friends and see what he says.

IDK, this is a tough one, good luck

I feel like you're romantically attracted to him so you should find someone else for your therapist, that's just what I'm intuitively picking up anyway...
and then when I looked at your charts it seems you are with his moon conjunct your DSC and your Venus/Jupiter conjunct his moon and mutual 8th house sun overlays...

Thank you LunaIscariot! I haven't met him in person yet so I can't speak to romantic attraction, but I'm deliberately trying to be single right now and I don't even know what his single/married/whatever situation is, so I plan on respecting platonic boundaries regardless of whether it's professional or friendship. I'm hoping the 8th house energy will be expressed through psychological unraveling vs. sexuality! If there is an element of attraction, that would definitely make it difficult.

I've seen a picture of him, but I don't know if he's seen any of me (apart from the little thumbnail on Gmail emails).
