Both my Dads have Saturn on my Sun and its not helpful in an intimate relationship and double emphasizes their role as paternal figures. This compounds the inability for open communication as my Sun feels distant from both.
Saturn is certainly a potent glue. It is difficult to sever ties or leave someone whom you have strong Saturn contacts with. Especially when those contacts happen on the angles.
But Saturn is not sentimental at all nor "soft". So hopefully if there are mitigating Moon/Venus or Neptune contacts to losen the grip, it can help.
I have also been the Saturn person in relationships and I see how it can play out.
Saturn can be harsh on the planet it contacts and critical of it. Finding it almost impossible to allow affection.
The result is often a relationship that is formal, cordial but not warm at all. There is usually "expectation" on the non Saturn individual or some type of obligation that sticks for a long time between he two people(whether conscious or unconscious)
My sister and I share a double whammy Sun-Saturn in synastry i.e. her Saturn conjuncts my Sun and my Saturn opposes her Sun.
Its difficult for us to be affectionate with each other. Our relationship tends to be quite formal and businesslike.
But it is offset a little by Moon conjunct Moon,Venus conjunct Asc and Jupiter conj Asc.
Hopefully there are mitigating factors to it. But who is the Saturn? And who is the Moon?
Saturn contracts the ability for one to exchange emotions(Moon).
