Was wondering how binding Saturn conjunct angles is in Synastry. I have read that it is a binding aspect. But would it make up for no Saturn aspects with the Sun, Moon and personal planets in synastry?

Would Saturn conjunct Ascendant and Saturn conjunct IC in a synastry chart make up for it?

in my experience, when [A]'s saturn conjuncts [B]'s IC, [B] should be careful/make sure to consistently be practicing self-care. the IC/MC is called the "gravity axis" for a reason, and saturn is a heavy planet. when one partner's planet conjuncts another partner's IC, it already feels like the planet partner can easily get under IC partner's skin, deep/to the core. if that planet is saturn, they can get beneath your skin, to your core, and then drag you down, almost like someone attached an anchor to your emotional center of gravity. (sorry if this is too abstract/flowery!)

also, in my experience, the saturn person isn't usually aware of the effect they have on the IC person, and that can cause the IC person to come off as "oversensitive," or something similar.

when I've seen saturn conjunct a partner's ascendant, it has usually acted as a for-better-or-for-worse glue aspect.

I think mutual saturn-angle conjunctions could definitely have some staying power, but without any saturn aspects to personal planets, the staying power would be confusing ("why/how are we still doing this?")

how wide are the orbs you're using? *no* aspects to personal planets or luminaries seems rare.

Hei synonymphony, and thank you for replying

I agree with you on confusion part, it dose indeed feel a bit like "why/how are we still doing this?"

I use 4 to max 5 orb with the conjunction. There is an Quincunx between my Moon and the others saturn at 2 orb. Other than that their Saturn conjunct my Moon at 10 orb. There is a Saturn opposite Moon at 8 orb. and Saturn Square Mars at 6 orbs.

The Saturn / angle contacts are the closest aspects when it comes to Saturn.

But Saturn is the other persons 7th house ruler.

hi SeaGoat!

I would definitely count that quincunx (I tend to count any quincunxes with <2°30' orbs as valid in synastry), especially since it's a luminary of yours and it's their 7th house ruler. plus, the IC is the cusp of the 4th, therefore it's inherently lunar in nature, so with saturn conjuncting the IC, the moon-saturn theme/vibe is reinforced.
that being said, the quincunx probably just reinforces the "why/how?" feeling.

I'd double-check the declinations and antiscia too.

are there any prominent saturn configurations in the composite?

Hi Synonymphony, thank you again for your reply.

It is indeed a very moon-saturn themed relationship.

The most prominent Saturn configuration in the composite is Saturn conjunct the IC at a 2 orb. So we are continuing the same Saturn/Moon/ IC theme. And Saturn also trines Sun and Mercury.

Hi Synonymphony

I checked antiscia/ contrascia connections to our natal charts. Interesting find.
My Sun on the contrascion of his Saturn 1,5 orb. And his Sun on the contrascion of my Saturn 0,50 orb.

Now worried its a tad too much Saturn in this synastry

What about a Saturn trine ascendant? Still binding?
