i have lots of aspect with this one person's saturn, which happens to be the chart ruler of the person (=ascendant capricorn).

for example his saturn falls right on my sun/moon midpoint, and i thought that's not a very good synastry aspect. but when i see the saturn as the ruler of his chart, i may take in consideration a different perspective. also my chart ruler (jupiter) and his chart ruler have repeated contacts in every chart between us. should i just see them as jupiter and saturn, or should i keep it in mind that they are our rulers at the same time?

how much importance would you weigh on something like this in synastry?

I think this is very important. Maybe this relationship will affect both of you in a tremendous way. The most definite is that you will both feel "weird" about this connection, althogh I think Saturn is a heavier planet that jupiter, so it will be easier for you...

They are definitely important.

Check especially the aspects of the ruler of ASC, DSC, IC and MC to the rulers of ASC, DSC, IC and MC of the other person or even to the angles itself.
Usually in meaningful relationships you will find a conjunction or opposition.
Often the rulers of 5th or 8th house play an important role, too.

i've been curious with the synastry with this person because we don't have that many tight aspects that seem important... whereas with other significant people in my life i have more obvious and tighter aspects.

i've checked what you said a bit. i'm writing down only the connections involving the rulers of AC, DC, IC, MC and 5th and 8th house. there aren't as many conjunctions and oppositions than trines squares and sextiles.

me:
AC-Jupiter
DC-Mercury
IC-Neptune
MC-Mercury
5th-Mars
8th-Moon

him:
AC-Saturn
DC-Moon
IC-Venus
MC-Pluto
5th-Mercury
8th-Sun

-my Jupiter opposes his Pluto, squares his Venus, squares his Mercury, conjuncts his DC
-my Mercury trines his moon, squares his Mercury, conjuncts his AC
-my Neptune sextiles his Saturn, Trines his Jupiter
-my Mars opposes his Saturn, semi-squares his Venus, semi-sextiles Pluto
-my Moon sextles his Saturn, squares his AC

-his Saturn sextiles my neptune
-his Moon trines my mercury
-his Venus squares my jupiter, squares my mercury, conjuncts my MC
-his Pluto squares my Neptune, squares my AC
-his Mercury squares my Jupiter, squares my Mercury, squares my Sun, conjuncts my MC
-his Sun squares my Mercury, sextiles my Mars, trines my Jupiter, semi-squares my Neptune, semi-squares my MC, squares my Sun

then i looked at midpoints of these rulers as well...

-my Sun/moon midpoint conjuncts his Saturn
-his Sun/moon midpoint squares my Neptune
-my Jupiter/Mercury midpoint conjuncts Mercury
-my Neptune/Mercury midpoint conjuncts his Part of Fortune
-my Jupiter/Neptune midpoint conjuncts his Sun
-his Venus/Pluto midpoint conjuncts my MC
-his Saturn/Venus midpoint conjuncts my AC
-his Saturn/Pluto squares my Saturn
-his Saturn/Jupiter near my IC (5 degree)

in the other charts between us we have funny chart ruler connections.

-our Saturn sesquiquares Jupiter double wammy (i never pay much attention to sesquiquares normally but thought this one might be a bit more important in this context)
-my Draconic Saturn conjuncts his Natal Saturn
-my natal Jupiter opposites his Draconic Jupiter

-my natal Jupiter/his natal Jupiter midpoint conjuncts my natal Saturn/his natal Saturn midpoint (the same happens in Draconic since the distance stays the same between these planets after the wheel turns)

-our composite Saturn and Jupiter are in opposition
-our Davison relationship chart Saturn and Jupiter are also in opposition
-our progressed composite Saturn and Jupiter are in opposition too
-our first meeting chart Saturn and Jupiter are trine
-when i make the draconic composite chart, Saturn and Jupiter are in almost exact conjunction at the Ascendant
-then i made the draconic of the progressed composite too and the Saturn and Jupiter are in conjunction

-on top of that our composite Sun/Moon midpoint is North node and the transiting Saturn was hovering over it back and forth until it went forward again recently (too much Saturn!).

so, this is what i got so far, and i also checked if similar things are happening with me and others who were close to me or who's synastry show that we are/were soulmates, and i don't see anything like this. it's interesting to me because as i said already me and this particular person don't have many obvious positive aspects in synastry, like Sun and moon contacts.

i wonder what this could mean, like things are less obvious on the surface? it IS an odd relationship. it is very strange and i'm not so sure what to think of it. but i am certain he isn't just another person passing through my life. can people have strong relationships without having aspects like sun-moon or positive aspects between planets/points?

You do have an unbelievably strong mutual connection.

Your ASC ruler conjuncts his DSC.
Your DSC ruler conjuncts his ASC.

This is what is called in some books the "marriage rule" - there has to be a conjunction of the ASC-DSC-axis or involving the rulers.
It`s like key and lock. The ASC is YOU and the DSC is what you are attracted to.
So it meanst you both are attracted to each other; each has something was the other needs or is drawn to.
It`s a bit like a Venus-Mars-conjunction. It`s an instinctive pull towards each other. But of course people will react differently to this kind of magnetism, for some people it may be too strong.

His IC ruler conjuncts your MC.
A strong activation of the home-career axis. It could signify a strong feeling of belonging.

In any case it`s a strong connection.

Since the ruler of 1st house, 4th house, 5th house, 7th house act a bit like Mars, Moon, Sun and Venus, I always include those rulers into my intepretation.
They are much more unique than for example a single Mars-Venus-aspect.
But if that Mars-Venus aspect is reflected by an aspect between 1st and 7th house, prefereably mutual, then you might have won the jackpot.
But like always also look to other aspects, that could modify this.

Example:
A conjunction of 1st and 7th house ruler is a sign of strong attraction, but if Saturn is squaring this conjunction,t here could be some inhibitions to really express the feelings.

rulers of 1st and 7th house. well, in this case we have...

his Jupiter (my 1st house ruler) and my moon (his 7th house ruler) conjunct. this particular conjunction is in opposition with the conjunction of my North node, my Pluto and his Juno by the way. my own Jupiter and his own moon have no contact. his Saturn (his 1st house ruler) and my Mercury (my 7th house ruler) are in semi-square. his Mercury and my Saturn are semi-sextile.

by the way his AC/MC midpoint is my AC and naturally his DC/IC midpoint my DC...

then his AC/DC midpoint is my Node axis, my AC/DC midpoint is his moon (his 7th house ruler).

this is very interesting to me. i'm a beginner at astrology and i'm still at checking more obvious basic aspects. but looking into little hidden details is fun! i'm surprised that there is this sounds like the "golden" aspect of AC/DC ruler thing you said between us, but at the same time it kind of makes sense in a twisted way. there must be something that is preventing this relationship to develop naturally though. i guess one thing with this synastry is that there are many squares. and also if i do look at the Saturn as Saturn-as-it-is, his Saturn sitting right on my Sun/moon midpoint can be what's acting as a brake too?

when i checked our name asteroids, i found that he has a very tight conjunction of both of our names conjunct his vertex in the 7th house, which was also tightly conjunct his name asteroid in my 8th house. it seems that we do have a strange connection but something isn't right for us to be "together" fully.

also some aspects aren't as ideally tight. many are within 3 degrees but some of them are between 3-6 degrees. so the wider ones i take as not as intense but should be still counted. but i think 6 degree is still very valid for personal planets especially?

by the way we do have a Venus-Mars semi-square doublewammies. a connection is a connection and also a doublewammy, but i'm a little hesitant to think of it good since it's just semi-square... what do you think?

So the conjunctions only count? Not the trines or sextiles?

Their DSC ruler (Saturn) sextiles my Moon and makes a tight parellel to my Moon. Their DSC ruler also conjuncts my DSC ruler Uranus. I don't know if that counts since we are so close in age. Their ASC ruler (Moon) conjuncts my DSC ruler (Uranus) and it trines my ASC. My Sun ruler of my ASC (Leo) trines their ASC ruler. My IC in Scorpio (Pluto) trine their IC ruler Virgo (Mercury). Their DSC is in my 4th house.
