How important is this axis in synastry? My bf and I have a not so good synastry and composite but, our connections are seen in parallels, antiscia and midpoints. His antiscia MC is my natal and vice versa with the IC as well. We also have connections in our dwad charts. In our SR charts we have all of the angles conjunct, ascendant conjunct ascendant, MC conjunct MC and so on for years. In progressed charts, my MC is conjunct his descendant and stays that way for a long time when I progress into the future.

How important is this for synastry? And can it overcome a terrible synastry and composite?

Very important. You feel very familiar to the person and very connected.

It kind of feels like glue. But not in an overly romantic way. Right off the bat it was like we'd always known each other and would joke that a day felt like a month being together, in a good way. It's probably the most difficult relationship I've ever had with another person but we literally can't walk away and it's like we're forced to dig down and fix it to stay together. It's bizarre because there aren't any heightened romantic or sexual connections but, our connections run below the surface and the only way I can describe it is like glue but not in a bad way.

Do we normally do SR-SR synastry? How significant is that?
I also noticed our angles being illuminated in various ways.

In tropical synastry we have ASCs conj DSCs, ICs conj MCs so in progressed synastry, we again have the same angles conjunct.

When we met, his SR MC conjunct my natal Sun and my SR ASC conjunct his pSun. His SR ASC also conjunct my SR MC, SR DSC conjunct my SR IC.

My 2019 SR ASC conjunct his pASC and his 2019 SR IC conjunct my natal Sun.

My 2020 SR angles will again conjunct his progressed angles (SR MC-pASC, SR IC-pDSC), and his SR Moon/Venus will conjunct my prog Moon/Venus.

Not sure if SR-Progressed/Natal even mean anything at all but it's interesting to note.

The IC/MC axis is that of home/family/deeper kinship.

IC is the more personal, smaller, self oriented version of that, and the MC is the more impersonal, larger, and collective version of that i.e. the larger society we live in and HAVE to deal with.

With IC connections, there is often a feeling of deep shared kinship at a very fundamental level. Quite often it relates to karmic patterns of having been part of the same close family or small tribe before. Those family connections can be parental, sibling, or mates, either way, under the same roof and close/affecting. Often times with some tension also, after all, in an archetypal sense the IC is often in a square relationship to the Ascendant i.e. self.

Family connections, obligations, duties can be a beeatch, no? A sense of "I HAVE to deal with these people, sigh". But it can also be very close in a very binding and mutually satisfying way, like, "wow, this person really, really gets and is connected to me".

MC is more of a vibe and connection of respect. It's a bit more impersonal. Sometimes it's more status oriented in the sense that we see positive or negative public connections between that person and the larger society. An extreme example would be like coming into a sphere of a President or someone held in high esteem by society. Someone that we perceive as authority, influence, or power in the in the larger society.

At a deeper level, one's Soul purpose/mission can connect to and align with someone whose Planets or points connect to our MC/10th House and/or vice versa.

I have a mutual Sun in 10th House connection with a friend. I DEEPLY respect him spiritually, and we have helped each other in a social/status setting by sticking up for each other, speaking well of each other, etc. even when the chips were down and society was against one or both of us. We have a very similar Soul/Spirit purpose, and part of our connection relates to our similar reasons for coming in to the Earth.

We are less family in the personal, narrow, and more selfish sense (or personality and/or clannish tribal sense), but more so family in the larger, impersonal, SERVICE, collective, and spiritual sense (combination of both 10th House and Solar). Though we are not especially close in a personality and emotional way, I am deeply grateful/appreciative for his presence both in the Earth in general and in my life. (He is a very, very old service Soul whom is unusually attuned to pure Love--closet human I have met to the Yeshua pattern so far, and interestingly, we both had almost exactly the same "school dream" of being at a school we don't normally go to and being much older than our fellow students).

ˆ^ Does IC conjunct MC in synastry support 2 people who wish to work together, like in a biz? His DSC ruler (which conjunct his MC) is also conjunct my IC.

My venus is conjunct his MC/chiron and my saturn is conjunct his ic in synastry. It often feels, from my pov, that I'm in some weird obligation to help him on a physical and soul level.

You have both a Grand Cross and a Mystic Rectangle in synastry.

What do those mean? I haven't looked into formations in synastry. I'm only familiar with the yod (I have one in my natal).

Why do you say you have a not-so-good synastry? Angles conjunction is a strong attraction. No wonder you say it feels like glue. And you also have Venus conj MC/Chiron, NN conj IC, Saturn/Mars conj IC, Saturn/Jupiter trine ASC, Moon sextile ASC, Moon conj Pluto, Sun/Mercury/Neptune in 7H, Mars in 4H & 8H, Jupiter/Neptune in 5H, Sun-Moon sextile, Sun opp Venus, Sun trine Mars, Venus trine/conj Mars DW, Mars-Mars sextile.... definitely has potential for romance.

It means your synastry isn't as bad as you're making it out to be. I haven't seen your composite, but formations tend to be a good thing in synastry. Then again, the Grand Cross does involve squares from Saturn and a Saturn/Chiron opposition, so you might not enjoy it.

I say that because my moon/Pluto and vertex are unaspected. That's a really big deal in my chart. I'm also the saturn person in the cross and I feel like I'm the one putting all of the work in and it's me who gets burned when things go wrong, my venus on his mc/chiron. It doesn't matter now anyway because I finally made him leave. The differences were just too great for me and I'm not going to carry all of the weight of the relationship. Being the Saturn sucks 😂

Here is our composite btw

Thank you for the replies. It really helped me understand synastries better and how my chart interacts with them.

Your Moon is sextile his Sun, conjunct his Pluto/Lilith and semi-sextile his Venus. How is that unaspected? I believe it is Saturn that makes you feel this way.

Anyway, your Composite Moon mainly receives harsh aspects which doesn't bode well for a truly happy union, and Sun square Uranus is unstable on its own.

EDIT: And also from what I've read, Vertex connection simply gave you the fated feeling, but whether or not the relationship is good for both depends on the rest of the chart. It is not an essential ingredient.

I'm very used to having my moon conjunct everyone's Pluto. It's generational plus I carry that energy myself so I don't normally feel that like it's described in synastry. The sextile doesn't show up in the charts, I wonder why?

There was such a heavy MC/IC component to this relationship and it confused me. What is the purpose of the r/s when that axis is activated in both people's charts?

I definitely felt all of those aspects, especially the hard moon squares. The Saturn really bummed me out a lot because I'm naturally not like that. The whole situation did help me to set boundaries of what kind of behaviour I will and will not accept and I truly thought I already had strong boundaries. He burst right through them and left me scrambling to piece them back together.
