I have Moon/Moon conjunction with a guy I really like, both moons at 5 degrees in Libra. Conjunction falls in my 8th house and his 2nd house. He also has venus in his 2nd, as well in Libra, but not near the conjunction.
In his natal, his sun is loosely sextile his moon. Sun at 9'33" Sagittarius (also conjunct his Pluto) which would make his sun also loosely sextile my moon.
The issue is that, in my natal, my sun is square my moon, very closely! Sun is at 6'25" Cancer. My sun is also -0'04" conjunct my north node. So, my sun is square our Moon/Moon conjunction, while his sun is sextile it.
I've had two relationships in which their moon was conjuct my sun (And this conjunction was square my moon). The first was with a man, and that was just sort of uncomfortable, I think it made him feel emasculated. My moon was in his 12th house, the s/m conjunction in his 9th and my 6th. The second time was with another woman, and it went better and a lot smoother, my moon in her 5th house and the s/m conjunction in her 2nd. In both instances, I felt uncomfortable, like my needs weren't ever being addressed. Damn Libra moon. (Wouldn't trade it for the world though, lol )
For this reason, Sun/Moon contacts make me nervous, even though I enjoy the intimacy and strong connection they bring.
I really like this guy, and I feel like the Moon/Moon conjunction will be more fulfilling - but the square to my sun will forever make me nervous. And the sextile to his sun? Yikes, I've never been the 'moon' person in Sun/Moon contacts.
Not sure how things will play out. These Sun/Moon contacts are the only super notable ones to me in our synastry aside from his mars trine the m/m conjunction.
What are your experiences with these placements? Do you prefer to be the moon or sun person? Have you ever had DW sun/moon contacts?
*posting the synastry chart below my signature for anyone who wants to take a look i didn't think it was that interesting. I think our composite is strong, though.

I have some experience with Sun/Moon square in synastry, and I typically enjoy it! Squares are frustrating, but rarely are they boring or lacklustre in any way.

My sun squares my younger brother's Moon and we definitely can be at odds, my ego versus his emotions! But I also know when my 'ego' is stepping up and not allowing him to have emotional needs, and usually will come around after and recognise/apologise if I overstep.

My younger sister's Sun (and Moon) square my Moon, and we have much more conflict, but when we are on good terms (which is more often the older we get/grow), it's absolutely wonderful! I love the joy the square can stimulate.

As for natally, I think usually synastry connections are giving you an opportunity to confront your own terms of dealing with a square. How do you/how can you manage your own Sun/Moon difficulties? Maybe it's something you can even discuss with this Moon/Moon conjunction, as they may have more insight to things you have a harder time seeing.

Also, said with kindness, keep an eye on the ego versus what you DO emotionally need. It's okay to drop a humble pie or even bolster an ego-value to speak up when you're not being met with what you need!

I also have a libra moon and I've met one guy whose libra moon conjuncted mine. Omg. I just adored him! I still crush on him, though the romance part didnt work out because neither one of us was really stable enough at the time to have a relationship, but he's still a friend and he still pops over once a month or so, just to hang for a few.

I like sun to moon, it's very familiar and fun. But in my case (I was the sun) it turned into a weird feeling of me almost being like his mom. That got old because he sort of wanted me to take care of him and no... I have a libra mars and can barely take care of myself lol.

My Aries Sun is opposite my first wife's Libra Moon near my POF; her Sag Sun in opposite sign of my Gemini Moon, 11* orb. My only love with DW Sun/Moon aspects. 7 years of romantic marriage bliss, best sexualove ever. My super Leo dream lover (8/17/87) has Leo Sun sextile my Gemini Moon, conjunct my rising Mars, and Gemini Moon conjunct my Venus. I have her pic on my wall. In real world she's happy with her bf; she has come to me in a dream. I prefer being the Sun person.

Moon-Moon conjunction is great! Also the trine and sextile.

I've Sun in Taurus, Moon in Sagittarius. Whoever has Moon in harmonious aspect to my Moon will not aspect my Sun nicely and vice versa, and IME I've always enjoyed harmonious aspects to my Moon more than to my Sun.

One synastry to note for me has a combo of ...

Their Moon trine my Moon
Their Sun trine my Moon
My Sun square their Moon
Our suns make no aspect.

It's usually pretty chill and silly energy between us, but sometimes, oof that square gets dicey. Although in my case, I'm also squaring out my Pluto to their Moon, so it's more intense. (Their Pluto trines my Moon, hahaha I got it easy, there).

In another case, with my Mother, we have an out of sign Moon conjunction- Mine at the end of Gemini, hers at the start of Cancer. We have such a hard time not getting emotional between us but boy do I love my mama.

Her mother as well had her Moon conjunct our Moon, three peas in a very emotionally turbulent pod at times.

Another case I've experienced is
Their Sun trine my Sun
Their Sun square my Moon
Their Moon sextile my Sun
Their Moon square my Moon

Actually I'm fairly sure it was a T-square between their Sun/Moon at my Moon. It was incredibly overwhelming and I ended up emotionally triggered by the smallest things. (Which is rough as my Moon is on my IC and I'm typically very private with my feels.) I ran away fast from that energy

I really enjoy sun-moon in aspect, I had one with a one lady that was really enamored with me. Things didn't work out because she was obsessed with cosplay and liked to post pictures of her with a bunch of celebrities of nerdy shows, it felt like I was competing with people like Tom Hiddleston, David Tennant, and Andrew Scott for social media space on her page lol.

Anyways, the moon and sun would feel very complimentary, where the sun's goals and dreams would be supported by the moon who feels they've been there done that. A DW would be very enjoyable, the relationship would feel like a good game of ping pong where one gives and the other receives, and vice versa.
