I am fairly certain this fairly simple query must have been covered somewhere at length but I haven't been able to find anything good - are overlays on the cusp of a house interpreted as both houses? If someone's Venus is right on another's cusp of 5th house, do I interpret it as both? If it's, say, one degree towards one house, is it strictly in that house or will it still be colored by the other house? What do you think? IP: Logged |

It depends on the House system. I use Placidus cusps (which are time based and divide each quadrant into 3 equal segments of motion through time), and find that placements near the Horizon (late 12th and 6th Houses) tend to take on characteristics of 1st and 7th Houses as they approach the Ascendant and Descendant more powerfully than the other House cusps. But all Placidus cusps are local regions rather than exact points. IP: Logged |

I see - and I agree, I have had the ASC-DSC axis in the 12th and the 6th in synastry and it was felt very, very, very intensely as both ASC-DSC. (The only difference being perhaps that the ASC conjunction, technically being in 12th, had a general mood of self-sacrifice and privacy to it, it was like the planet was quietly dedicated to making the ASC look better)How about a planet (say Venus) conjunct the 4/5th house cusp less than one degree in Placidus, though? Is this a wait and feel it out situation? Or is it both a 4th and 5th placement? IP: Logged |

It's a time where the Venus 4H mixes with 5H influence: the Inner/Home/Family Venus influence becomes Joy/Fun/Pleasure.
