I will just leave this situation be. I still have absolutely no clue what actually happened here, but I am done thinking about it. I also don’t want to contact this person as I said my goodbyes the last time we talked, so if he has anything to say he should be the one to ‘explain’. I shouldn’t have to ask.

The synastry caught my eye right away - you both have Neptune/Moon double whammys, which could point to why you have such strong psychic phenomena with him.

Also the Moon/Uranus in the composite could also point to such things - feeling him even when you're apart, the dream world offering clues, tarot being particularly loud with this person.

Curious to see what Pallas Athene is going in all of these charts? I've noticed very potent psychic connections with that asteroid.

I also went through something similar this year - someone I was interested in ended up dating another person for a short period of time and the girl getting pregnant immediately. Quite traumatic. I would often dream of them and the baby would always have very dire complications in the dreams. We don't talk anymore so who even knows if there's any accuracy there.

You're an old pro so you know that astrology cannot objectively predict death... nor can tarot really. The Death card is often not literal but symbolic of transformation. The 4 of Swords can just point to someone mentally "checking out" because they're so stressed (which would be natural for this guy who maybe now has to call off a wedding for embarrassing reasons that may make him feel emasculated)

I don't know if I see death for him. T. Saturn on his natal Neptune - an abrupt and hurtful end of something he was hoping for/dreaming about. T. Saturn also trine his Mercury - he's getting real about this, it's not something he's taking lightly, he's not into frivolty or delusions

The transiting NN is closing in on his Venus so love is a big theme for him right now. Eventually in 2 years time the SN will be on his Pluto. Could be some other sort of crisis in his life popping up then.

Uranus WAS trine his Moon and square his own Uranus for the bulk of 2018-2020 but I don't think t. Uranus is going back to those degrees so he's fine there...

Probably the biggest thing is Mars retro going back over his Saturn/6th house the rest of the year coupled with Chiron, so it could spell delicate health for him

I can't see transits about accidents to his natal, and as Athenaia pointed out, it's not easy to predict death aspects without a very carefull analysis of the natal chart.
Transiting Chiron/Mars opposite Chiron can suggest he's going to face an hard decision that is triggering his emotional wounds and inner insicurities (Chiron 12th house square Moon and opposite Saturn), so this can be an element of depression and inner crisis. As transiting Mars will go through the nodal axis, he will likely "give up", this means he might accept the situation or he might leave the situation (I would need to check his Comp. with his actual gf to understand this...) Even though my guess is that he's going to try to escape the situation somehow, cause transiting North Node is going to be conjunct to Venus quincunx to Neptune and widely square to Saturn.

Transiting Jupiter is going to be conjunct his natal Jupiter and trine to his Nodes, so this is a karmic configuration suggesting he's "growing up" and taking awareness through the current events.

Your Composite with him is very difficult. With Chiron quincunx to Moon/Uranus, the relationship looks very platonic, and with Chiron opposite Jupiter/Saturn and Jupiter square to Pluto, you can have a toxic influence to each other, with strong control issues and manipulation. The Saturn/Neptune midpoint is conjunct to South Node, this would suggest "parting ways", and since transiting Saturn is conjunct to Composite South Node, this might be forthcoming.

Based on this, I'd assume that your cards, dreams and fears might be related to a letting go that you need to get ready and aware about.
