This Composite looks extremely karmic to me, this looks like someone who is destined to be very longterm in your life, and Saturn sextile/trine the asc/dsc axis/Pluto/Mars-Venus-Mercury stellium suggests the bond from the past. Mars/Venus/Mercury is on its own very loving and the stellium is square the nodes, so this is a very significant relationship in both your lives, with Pluto involved on the axis, there is potential for trasformation of the nature of this relationship, but it also adds intensity to the whole dynamic whether you were a couple. Sun is also square the MC/IC, so this is a again a sign of a longterm familiar presence in both lifes.
The Juno/Jupiter midpoint is conjunct the nodes and square to the stellium, so the potentiality of a romantic relationship looks "written in the stars" or the pull for committment may be strong.
Saturn/Uranus midpoint conjunct Neptune gives unbalance here though, as it would suggest actually a platonic love or desire, and it is square to Eris. There may be a challenge in the whole picture, as if a line can't be crossed or circumstances in both your lives would make difficult for a romantic involvement to take off the ground, or one of the two being in another relationship, the second house planets might suggest "missing ground"... is there such an issue?

I had a very similar experience with my longtime best friend (it seems you and me have a lot of similar experiences!), just with a much longer range of time... he was in love with me when we first met thirty years ago! We even lived in the same house back then and were inseparable, I felt he was my perfect man, but for some reason I couldn't fall in love, in the romantic sense, even though he was so perfect to me... then for years we had our own longtime relationships while still being best friends... but when he had a daughter 15 years ago and was committed to his daughter's mother, I realized I was in love with him!!! :-D

It is possible that you started to have new romantic feelings for him when Jupiter and Saturn went retrograde on Composite Saturn, "awakening the past" somehow, like if a new chance would be given to those feelings/chance you had "missed" somehow... at the same time, transiting north node went through composite Jupiter, then Mars went retrograde and direct through composite 5th house and transiting North Node is now conjunct Eros trine to Composite North Node.
When transiting Jupiter and Saturn will be conjunct to Composite Moon early next year, I think you may have a chance for a romantic start with your friend. :-)
If this happens, according to further transits, there may be interesting developments (tr. Jupiter going towards composite north node, and later also Saturn will be there... next year, transiting north node on the Composite stellium and DSC).

Even if the planets in the second house look platonic and challening, maybe suggesting delays, I think the composite looks like a "soulmate" chart. There's certainly a destiny here. Juno in 11th house gives me the feeling that whatever happens, your friendship will always be the basic factor of your relationship.

I noticed that in September the node was transmitting square the nessus/psyche opposition and the node is now several arc minutes from a exact conjunction to Eros.

My take is that both have issues of abuse.nessus with no hard aspects does give a devotion or loyalty.I think he must know of your sensitive inner "secrets" and has always respected and consoled you when you emotions became troubled.I would think this is a two way street.
It looks like when the node went over this opposition you may have subconsciously/consciously felt this sensitivity anew.

As what to do, there is such a tremendous sexual/emotional connection with mars/Venus/ opposed to the node and opposed Pluto,that one might wonder why nothing romantic occurred before.
It might be that you are sensitive to his trusted and gentle support of your issues now,maybe other suitors have turned out to be only concerned about physical attributes and not inner values.

If these transits are responsible for your feeling then you need to remember that these asteroids usually add accent to
more substantial emotional aspects.
It seems that if this is a mutual feeling,he would put out some indications.
I would suggest sounding him out by subtlety bringing these secret emotional issues up.

The north node had just passed an conjunction to the composite Jupiter a few days before Aug 27.
I take this as the affirmation from him I alluded to.
Juno/Jupiter midpoint is conjunct the south node and the eris/Venus midpoint is square the node and conjunct mercury...I suggest you take the lead and explore what can be.
Here the heavy pluto influence may be symbolic of the many years the two of you have held you desires at bay. He rang the bell and it resonances in you.
Certainly the node/Jupiter transits shows the utmost sincerity.
