Is it true that South Node contacts indicate that things won’t last? Because one person will feel held back?

Because I have south node - moon conjunction nataly, almost in the synastry of all the guys I fell for and extremely hard time letting go, we had south node conjunct moon.. And they did not last... However, a friend of mine has it with the husband ( married more than 20 years - you ll never know but I dont think a divorce can happen)

Check the aspects... My moon-soutnode conjunction receiving hard aspects mostly. So, anyone puts a planet there - not good for synastry...

Depends on the relationship and the planets involved.
In Vedic, they think that a malefic on the South Node it's a good thing because it means that the problems/karma between the two will shrink and be resolved. The same with a benefic. On the North Node, it will expand and help the North Node person. I have with my sister DW Mars conjunct South Node and we were fighting all the time when we were kids and things are getting better and better. We learn how to be with one another without being aggressive.
I found squares to the Nodes in Synastry quite useful. They point to the midpoint of the Nodes and I've been guided well everytime someone was with their Venus or Moon there.
It just points to familiarity between the people involved and, if you believe in past lives, you had a connection with the guy. If it's Venus, check the houses and they will tell you more about the type of relationship it was.

Being held back, depends on the rest of chart of the Nodes person. If he/she is more into his/her South Node, then it will last, along with other aspects, but if he/she is very into their North Node, it might not last. But one aspect can't break them. Again, in Vedic, they consider the South Node a spiritual point, because that's who we are, in one way or another, that's our safe place, our home.
