Take it from a mostly predominant Jupitarian... Jupiter is always at least a little preachy (smile). But we also often mean well and often come from a truly positive place. I don't really see too much in the ways of problems with a Venus Jupiter opposition. Just might manifest as sometimes being too forgiving and/or tolerant of each other i.e. looking past difficult/uncomfortable things at times or possibly increasing each others indulgent and/or hedonistic sides too much (i.e. going to extremes in that area).
But otherwise, increased tolerance and acceptance is usually a good thing in relationships if both mean well and truly love/care about the other.
Oppositions aren't really "negative" in the context of relationships. They do often indicate a need or seeking of balance and/or a tendency to polarization or extremes at times, but they also signify strong attraction and generally represent closer partnerships/relationships in general as they have a double 7th House connotation.
I ALWAYS see strong oppositions between major and/or sensitive points in charts of particularly close people. My partner and I have A LOT of opposite Sign energies. I have Leo ASC and she has Aqua Sun, Venus, and South Node. I have Libra Moon and she has Aries Moon. I have N.N., Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn in Virgo and she has Mercury and Mars in Pisces. We bring a greater balance to each other. It helps that we also have strongly similar energies at the same time, such as she has Cap ASC and I have Cap Sun and Merc, I have Aqua Venus (already mentioned all her Aqua), she has ASC/Chart ruler and Jupiter in Libra (my Libra Moon), and I have Angular Pisces SN (again her Merc/Mars in Pisces).
