So something ive noticed among Astro websites, one’s moon being in another’s IC or DC is considered a good placement because of several reasons, but moon square asc is considered an incompatible placement. Aren’t they technically the same thing? I’m confused about this.

Synastry Moon conjunct IC is not the same as Moon in 4th House. Consider the Sign relationship of ASC and Moon. Moon square ASC indicates emotional strain, difficult to reconcile. For example Aries ASC square Cancer Moon. But Aries ASC trine Leo Moon in 4H is more resonant (both Fire signs).
Synastry Moon conjunct Descendant (Moon oppose Ascendant) can be somewhat easier to integrate because opposition aspect occurs between Fire and Air or Earth and Water signs. This is not the same as Moon in 7th House. If 7H synastry Moon is inconjunct (150* aspect) ASC, Sign integration could be more difficult. For example, Leo ASC inconjunct Pisces Moon. Fire and Water indicates emotional strain.
