This is a synastry chart of me and my ex. http://docs.google.com/document/d/1-eiXD41uLmBsiKbRw-VgtG9GLavrTYPMFaU3JNW50MI/ edit?usp=sharing

We have a few south and north node conjunctions.

One interpretation I read from the Vedic perspective is that, with Jupiter on the South Node, there will be a decrease in wisdom over time.

I've read some very positive interpretations from astro.com.

My family discouraged the relationship, because they sensed it would hold me back.

Moving on from this has been impossible. It was a few years ago, and thinking of it is still heart-wrenching and tearful.

I don't know whether there's hope to try and be together. Much of what I've read is that these types of south node conjunctions can feel like the person is your soulmate, but that, no matter what, it just doesn't work out. Is this really true? There must be other interpretations.

South Node conjunct Jupiter and Mercury gives a strong soulmate feeling and mind connection. But Neptune/Saturn conjunct North Node and square to Moon is very unstable emotionally, Neptune may add the soulmate/spiritual connection but also strong insecurities for long term.
I'd like to check the Composite chart, including Juno and Vertex.

hello from Rome! Nice to meet you and your family! :-))

Uhmm... the Promised Spouses, or Romeo and Juliet?

The chart looks extremely karmic. The Jupiter/Venus/Chiron stellium in the 12th house opposite Moon/Saturn looks very binding and giving a very intense intimacy, it's like you promised to be devoted to each other no matter what... The nodes are square Juno and the Juno/Jupiter midpoint is square Vertex, this adds a soulmate bond and the feeling that you are meant for each other. Even so Vertex can make things otherworldly and difficult to manifest on the earthly plane, it's like you are connected from parallel universes... so this may actually show that there is an unattainable side and at the same time a difficult letting go. Uranus square the axis can give mind connection but it's very unstable and may bring abrupt changes or detachment. This gives an unpredictable trait to the relationship. This may also suggest external factors such as a challenging family environment.
The Venus/Mars midpoint is conjunct to South Node and square Juno... this shows potential mutual strong feelings and romance, with south node it can be difficult again to move on but it may show a "fated" detachment again...

Transiting Saturn is currently conjunct composite North Node, this may be a return from the past, a re-connection is possible at this moment or in a very close future, or attempt to re-establish the relationship... transiting Uranus is currently square the nodes so you may have a strong psychic connection at this moment, thinking of each other at the same time, telepathy... but transiting South Node will hit composite vertex in few months, so I am not sure that past issues will have a resolution, I am not holding back to you that transits are not favourable, cause tr. saturn will be square to composite Pluto at the same time, which usually "freezes" the situation.

Do you mean it could go either way?

This is part of why I feel I've failed the relationship past the point of no return... because I took family advice to move far away, and then further, after a lull in our communication, told him we should allow ourselves to split apart and see other people. I wish I had never said that.

I'm learning a lot -- thanks for sharing

I had never heard of this measurement before. Huh. That makes a lot of sense. We definitely had a weird ability to be detached. I never realized it was negative, but it ties in with my ability to take my family's disapproval so matter-of-factly.

Ah. This point confuses me, because isn't the point of studying the nodes to balance them? For example, I have Juno exactly conjunct my south node nataly... so from that point of view, I would maybe be better off not marrying?

I learned a lot from you about transits to the composite chart. Maybe I'll get up the courage to reach out to him again. The last time I talked with him, he asked me to move on. So I might have to wait for him to reach out. I responded out of hurt that I was actively moving on, and that I had felt held back by the relationship. Regretfully. He has Venus retrograde in his chart, so initiating emotional or intimate interactions is challenging for him. Maybe this feeling I'm getting is the Uranus square and psychic connection you noticed. Not sure what to do : /

Thank you for your feedback!

Yes transiting Uranus square the Nodes may trigger mental connection... Juno/South Node, natally or in composite, may give powerful desire for establishing committment, feeling to be destined in that sphere, but south node is a karmic energy referring to past experiences, or past lives if one believes in it, or taking off/dissolving the energy from the planet or asteroid, so that energy may be short lived. You may feel comfortable with it cause you have it natally, but still the same dynamic is there. I unfortunately think that transiting south node conjunct Vertex may bring a definitive detachment... in any case, give updates if you like.
