What would you consider a red flag aspect?

Someone's plantes falling in your 8th...from experience...

Tho, our asc's were in exact conj. so his stellium of Venus, Mars and his Cancer sun in his 8th fell as well in my 8th, so he projected his power and control issues onto me and the relationship.

Another, someone's Mars falling into your 12th....another one from experience, the guy just creeps me out, makes me uncomfortable. We have mutual Taurus moons and squared suns, the Mars thing just gives me the creeps, and I felt this before I did his chart, like something is lurking just beyond the surface, and it does not help his Mars is in Scorpio.

I have had a life full of red-flag relationships, will ponder some more.

Sun square Mars - in synastry

There isn't much communication or mutual understanding, because of the aggressive energy it produces. It gets nasty.
imo it beats any Pluto or Saturn squares/opps to personal planets. All of that can be easier to sort out than Sun/Mars.. I'm only referring to the square - The opposition doesn't come close in my experience.

Saturn square Mars - in composite

Anger gets buried beneath the surface.. where it builds steadily until it either blows up.. or causes an unbridgeable silent gap between the two people involved.

I'm in a situation with somebody involving the following configurations in synastry:

Sun Conjunct Saturn
Sun Opposite Saturn
Moon Quincunx Saturn
Moon Quincunx Pluto
Moons Mutually Oppose Neptune
Mercury Opposite Saturn
Sun Square Mars
Mercury Square Mars
Mercury Square Mercury
Venus Square Chiron
Venus Quincunx Pluto
Venus Opposite Neptune (26 mins)
Mars Square Uranus
Moon Quincunx Uranus
Saturn Square Chiron

In the composite:

Saturn in the 7th
Pluto in the 8th
Mars in the 6th

Sun Square Saturn
Sun Square Pluto
Mercury Square Saturn
Mercury Square Pluto
Venus Square Saturn
Venus Square Pluto
Moon Opposite Neptune
Mars Square Uranus
Saturn Conjunct Pluto

I'm in love.

His Moon conjuncts mine in the 12th. His Saturn is in my 5th. My Neptune in his 1st, my Uranus in his 12th, my Pluto in his 10th. His Pluto's in my 5th.

I don`t believe there are red flag aspects per se in synastry.
I think that every person has their individual "red flag" aspect, depending on their natal charts.

For example: Someone with a lot of Uranian vibes in their natal chart, could easily label a hard Pluto-square as red flag aspect.

Or like me: I love strong Pluto aspects (well, maybe not "love", but they are certainly no red flag to me), even the Mars-Pluto-square, not easy, but very passionate and fascinating, but then again I have Venus-Pluto square and an emphasis on the 2nd - 8th house axis, so I guess the Pluto energy is familiar to me in some way.

But what I don`t like too much are squares to my Moon, not even by soft Venus.
Interestingly the only challenging aspects my moon can deal with, seems to be Saturn. And Moon - Saturn is said to be a Red Flag aspect, but it has occured too often in close, very deep and meaningful relationships and friendships to be a coincidence.

Also regarding the Mars-SAturn conjunction, I know some couples, who have that, and they have been together for more than a decade, in the case of my parents, more than 30 years, and I think this aspect kept them going, even in hardships.
But then again, in those cases there were strong SAturnian natal aspects, too, so they could deal with that energy, I think.
I`m not so sure if I would like a Mars Saturn square or conjunction or opposition for myself. My My Mars is in Sagittarius in 12th house conjunct Neptune and ASC and square Jupiter. I think I can safely predict that a Mars-Saturn-aspect in synastry would at least be a challenge to me, even though my Venus in Capricorn would probably feel quite intrigued by the Mars-Saturn-energy.
Actually I have felt drawn to some men, who had Saturnian influence natally, mostly by Sun and Mars in Capricorn, but the challenging aspects could be a tad too much in the end.

Well, what I wanted to say is, that I strongly believe, that our red flag aspects depend on our individual natal charts.

I am very wary of Neptune squares to Venus and the Sun in composite... every relationship I've examined with really HARD betrayal and disillusionment has had them.

I don't like someone with too many planets in my 6th house. Pisces is intercepted in my 6th and I seem to attract Pisceans and men with Piscean placements like moths to a flame, but... my ex-husband was a Sun/Venus & Mars Pisces... who also had his Saturn sitting exact on my ASC and that relationship just felt like WORK.

Even with my own business, he would treat me like I was HIS employee and question me and treat me like a flippin' kid... as if he was my manager and i had to report to him. Anyway... any more than one placement in my 6th and I'm running a mile. It's really no fun.

In composite, Uranus square Sun-Sat conjunction.

I was forced to break up because of emotional abuse. Wrote a very nice breakup letter and never even received an acknowledgement. Haven't seen nor heard from the other party in over a month.

I might even surmise that any hard Uranus aspects spell trouble and I am inclined to avoid them if possible, but as we all know life does not always give us an option.

Composite - hard aspects to Neptune (confusions, illusions, disappointments) and Uranus (instability).. Not even Mars or Saturn hard aspects can be that worse.. >_<;

Synastry - hard aspects to Neptune (still the worst case in my opinion!!), and incompatible Mercury/Mercury (hard to communicate and understand each other) and Venus/Venus (difference between tastes might clash).. Saturn can also put a big damper in a synastry..

About the Mercury/Mercury and Venus/Venus compatibility.. Imagine that you have Sagittarius Mercury and Scorpio Venus.. Now you have person A, with Aries Mercury and Pisces Venus, and person B, with Pisces Mercury and Aquarius Venus. With person B, you might find each other's way of talking/thinking/communicating quite lovely/lovable (Mercury/Venus DW compatibility), but you might not really talk in the same language (Mercury/Mercury incompatibility) nor like the same things (Venus/Venus incompatibility). But with person A, you might find that you both are similar in your ways of talking/thinking/communicating, and you both also have similar tastes.

For me: its definitely someone's saturn in hard aspect to my venus. Or alot of hard saturn contacts: it feels really stifling for me. I'm not talking about the average one, two, or three hard contacts in a relationship which most serious relationships have (including mine) but I've been in some situations where there have been alot and they have not been fun.

All hard aspects are potential red flags, but it depends on how much you and your partner can take. I agree strongly with DD - in general hehe, but also in this respect - it depends on the natal chart, coz the natal chart decides what type of partners and relationships we attract ~ either with a similar energy, or with a different one, so we can adapt.

But, if I must select one aspect, it would be Saturn square/opposition Venus, both synastry and composite/Davison. NOT because it is frustrating, but because it can prevent two people from actually coming together.

i think one needs to examinetheir own natal issues in their chart before synastry, remember - " we only attract what is inside us." PERIOD.
if u are trapped in an abusive relationship it means u have a Victim mind pattern to attract someone eho treats u like crap. OR if u face disillusionment in a relationship it means there is an ILLUSION to begin with.
LIFE is hard work . relationships r an excellent source of psychological info. once u know what needs to be fixed ur on the road to happily ever after.

synastrically my mom has aries sun conjunct moon at 6 ares. i have sun conjunct moon at 3 cancer. my mars squares my sun-moon at 9 libra. yup a T-SQUARE !!!

so basically my realtionship with her has been primarily defined by this hyperreactive T-SQUARE. go figure. all the deep love between us disappears when we lock horns, ( she is a double RAM ). i have personally asked my higher self to save me from this in synastry. honestly i would run a mile

Mars square Mercury in synastry was hard to deal with for a long time, but if you're committed to working out those communication issues then you can get through it.

In composite, Mars conjunct ascendant in the first house, at the apex of a T-square was pretty awful. A lot of blow-ups, and in public too. Uranus square moon didn't help matters either.

Sun, Mercury and Venus all opposite Neptune in composite... all I can say about that one is that it was very romantic for a long time. The romantic illusions faded but I wouldn't call it 'disillusionment'.

In my opinion, the worst things have been related to transits rather than aspects in the synastry or composite... Uranus squaring composite Venus was DREADFUL, and in hindsight, terribly upsetting for both of us. Saturn has been conjuncting the composite DC for a while now and in all honesty, I prefer this Saturn transit to the Uranus square anyday. You feel like things are out of your control in the Uranus transit, but with Saturn you just do what you know is necessary.

But I think, it's also useful to look at the progressed composite when you've been together for a while. Some of the 'red flag' aspects in the composite can become much less pronounced (or in some cases, more so) as time passes and you progress the chart.

Hmmm... also I'm wondering about this with my mother:

My chiron conjunct her sun
Her chiron conjunct my moon

We have a lot of arguments that don't seem to make sense to me and I feel pressured a lot for just following my own path (nothing bad - she just doesn't think it's best for me). She's also having her second Saturn return right now and the Uranus square Uranus transit. Meanwhile, I'm having Pluto square Pluto, Pluto conjunct ascendant, and Saturn square ascendant.

Would you consider the chiron aspects the red flags, or is it more related to our individual transits?

izodesmozina - thanx
on what DD said i think a person with atleast 1 Square in their natal can handle it better in synastry than one with a lot of trines and sextiles.

as for Chiron it does figure heavily in relationships that help people evolve for the better , irrespective of how it ends.
however i should say chiron and pluto aspects do trigger our wounded areas that " dont heal " so in a way it is a red flag but for ther best

also i think asteroids with chiron, pluto are IMP.
get this i have a karma - pluto double whammy in synastry. as per IQ it reveals a transformative bond that has developed over lives , that will never break easily. it is not akin to a karma-venus or karma -moon, that implies emotional or love karma, it can be a simple debt being repaid , not necessarily the DEAL. but with Karma- Pluto use ur imagination....

also i would like anyone who has a Grand square in synastry to comment. i have experienced a T- Square with Mom. would like to know what can be worse

Wow!

I never thought Uranus is that important in the chart, considering that it is "outer" planet. But...

I have a badly aspected Uranus-Venus with this one guy... both ways, and now it is making perfect sense to me:

quote:
Electric attraction characterizes this pairing. However, both will have to deal with an inability to truly count on one another over time. The Uranus person may resent any hint that the Venus person wants more of a commitment from, or structure in, the relationship.

Affection may be inconstant, or the two may often be separated from one another at key moments. In order for this relationship to work, both parties need to expect the unexpected.

This relationship can be an emotional rollercoaster ride, particularly for the Venus person. When the Venus person is feeling especially romantic, the Uranus person may be just out of reach somehow, whether it is a physical reality or takes the form of mental or emotional distancing.

This relationship has an erratic, unstable, but exciting quality.

Izo and Venus de India,

thank you for your backing up.

Izo,

quote:
coz the natal chart decides what type of partners and relationships we attract ~ either with a similar energy, or with a different one, so we can adapt.

I completely agree. It`s the old saying of "same folks flock together" or "opposites attract"; I think both holds true, even though probably the "opposite attracts" is much more magnetic and exciting, but maybe also a bit challenging in your every day life.

quote:
But, if I must select one aspect, it would be Saturn square/opposition Venus, both synastry and composite/Davison. NOT because it is frustrating, but because it can prevent two people from actually coming together.

Agreed again. I think especially in a composite this is difficult.

Venus de India,

quote:
" we only attract what is inside us." PERIOD.

Perfectly said!

quote:
on what DD said i think a person with atleast 1 Square in their natal can handle it better in synastry than one with a lot of trines and sextiles.

That is exactly what I tried to say. So I`m not all that upset about my squares anymore.

For me it’s Mercury square Mercury in synastry (we just couldn’t connect and have deep conversations, it was all just boring small talk for me).

Also Venus square Venus (I felt like he was very cold and I was very unhappy towards the end).

In composite moon square Uranus (instability). We had so many challenges just hanging out on a regular basis.

Editing to add: I did also experience Mars square Saturn in synastry, and it pretty much played out how I’ve read it can (he was basically a sex addict and was really pushy and aggressive. It made me very uncomfortable. He was also verbally abusive. I was Saturn).

Of course no chart can be judged just on one aspect, but in my experience these aspects really negatively affected my relationships with these people.
