What is your experience with this aspect?

Doesn't this always indicate that the interaction will be short-term?

Not necessarily.

There have been plenty of people on this and other astro forums that have mentioned being in long term, committed relationships with people where their personal planets strongly contacted the other's south node and/or vice versa.

One of the potential, generic meanings of one person's Venus conjunct the other person's South Node is there has been a close, loving, Venusian type connection in a past life or lives. Similar with South Node conjunct the other person's Desc.

And generally speaking, South Node contacts often carry a Lunar type feeling and vibe with them, especially on part of the south node person.

Some people are going to like these connections more than others. Particularly people that are highly Lunar, Cancer, and/or Yin attuned will tend to like it more than say, very Yang polarized people, or say very Mercurial attuned people. And for more mixed people, they will have more mixed feelings about them.

Just depends on the overall attunement of the individuals, and then the relationship/connection itself.

Aspects to the SN indicate more about the past than the future IMO. I wouldn't prognosticate based on the SN. It just means you've had a romantic/Venusian connection in the past, as Galactic said. I'd look to the NN and Saturn to find out how "long term" the relationship might be. Of course it is always up to the individuals, but I also don't think that just because a relationship is short-term means it's not significant or necessary for soul growth. Not all relationships should be judged by their length, just like a person's life shouldn't be judged by its length, "but by the worth of its deeds and the power of its dreams."

Would NN conjunct saturn be a binding aspect?

Good question! I would like to know also as my Saturn is conjunct his north node and his Venus is conjunct my South node. Very intense!! It feels very binding for me and I can’t tell if it his Venus or my Saturn doing that.

Yes. NN conjunct Saturn is very karmic and binding. It can feel very heavy, there is an air of responsibility, but traditionally you need some Saturn to say that something will last and it being on NN in particular is very binding. However it depends on the maturity of the node individual, whether they will rise to Saturn’s standards. Remember Saturn is the “hard taskmaster of the cosmos” so Saturn is there to teach.
