According to Mark Andrew Holmes it is about having a "hard-on"....The nymph Lotis vas persued by Priapus who wanted to have his way with her. The gods then in order to save her from the advances of Priapus, turned Lotis into a Lotus-tree. Does anyone have any experiance of this asteroid in synastry (or natal)?

Hi! I'm a longtime lurker and a pretty big asteroid astrology fan and this post inspired me to make an account and reply! This is a long post but I hope it helps! Ive found that Lotis in a natal chart represents a demure or innocent expression that others find sexually arousing! In my own natal chart Lotis conjuncts my ascendant by just over 1 degree, and the best way I can describe the energy is by giving insight into my background and how I became familiar with her energy! I was raised by a very conservative mother who despite always encouraging me to look and act my absolute best for others, was very adamant about never acting or appearing in a way that could be interpreted as sexually suggestive. So from a young age I mastered the art of being graceful and charming without being "sexual". Unfortunately, even from a young age, that didn't stop men of all age groups from sexualizing me, even though I very clearly remained innocent in my mannerisms and ran away from even a hint of sexual undertone (much like Lotis runs away from Priapus in the myth).
When I started looking for other women who had prominent Lotis energy, I tried to think of women that came across as demure and graceful beauties that inspired sexual and naughty thoughts in men. Low and behold the first two women that popped in my head both had Lotis conjunct their Suns exact! Princess Diana of Wales is renown for her beauty, and also her demure and naive appearance that caused women and men to both sympathize with her and find her irresistible! The second woman, Brooke Shields, is infamous for her Lolita-like image at a very young age! Beautiful, innocent, and angelic looks that were sexually exploited from a very young age for the masses! Although Brooke Shields herself was put in very sexually suggestive poses and roles, it was her innocent looks despite being very sexual that made people go crazy over her. So I think that women who have prominent Lotis, aren't outright naughty themselves, but that they have an innocent type of beauty that others find to be sexually magnetic!

I think in Synastry it may cause the Lotis person to act innocent to the advances of the planet person or play hard to get, which in turn would make the planet person want them more. That's just my guess though, I don't know of any Lotis dominant couple charts to verify it. IP: Logged |

Would it not (in general) be the asteroid person that would experience the effect of the asteroid, in synastry?For example: I read somewhere that Eros in synastry with an other person´s planet whould make the Eros person "go gaga" over the planet person... Would it not be the same with Lotis? Or does asteroids work in both directions?! IP: Logged |

AstralAstro, welcome to the forum and thank you for this great post! Your description reminded me of a dynamic I'm experiencing with someone who seems to assume I'm, let's say, more innocent and inexperienced than I am  and that seems to turn him on like crazy. I've experienced this dynamic with a few people before. Natally my Lotis is in my 4th house in Libra and part of a T-square where it opposes my Eris/Juno/Mercury and is squared by my Uranus/Neptune in the 7th.Anyway the person I am thinking of now - my Lotis is on his sun-moon midpoint! Very interesting indeed! I decided to check the synastry chart of a man I am currently talking to. Your story made me think of the fact that this man is constantly telling me how sexy/beautiful I am and yet it makes me so shy and blush. It feels like I show him this side of innocence because he just makes me feel that way for some reason. Like I don’t get really shy with guys but he can make me and in turn I come off more sweet and shy. And so I pulled up our chart on Astro and found that my lotis conjuncts my sun by less than a degree and opposes his Venus by 2degrees! I wonder if this is where that comes from. Not sure if that is how that plays out or if it’s brought on by a different aspect but from my experience with him and based of your description that seems like what’s happening here for me??
