The eternal question - what is stronger l, synastry or composite?

Let the battle start.

Would be lovely to hear your examples and reasoning.

How differently do they manifest?

For a starter, I didn't get into composites till recently. And I kind of thought they were not that important. But then I was partially disappointed by synastry and by its inability to predict whether people will get in a relationship and who will feel what.

Then I saw how magically people interpreted composites on lindaland, in particular Todd and Stoika. And how midpoints matter in composites, I guess more than in synastries.

As a starter for comparison -

(PLEASE DON'T QUOTE FURTHER)

my boyfriend and me have a trine of Mercuries in a synastry, quite precise (0*29 orb). On top of that his Mercury falls on my Pluto with a trine to my Mars and sextile to my Neptune. So it is quite well placed.

However, we have difficulties with Mercury. His Mercury is retrograde but direct in progressions. My Mercury is direct and just out of retrogression in progressions. So I don't know if this could be an issue.

But basically we constantly have mental clashes, and he is always very suspicious of my thinking. He always suspects I'm biased and in illusions. I also have the impression as if I were talking to a fog.

And in a composite we have Moon-Mercury square, or even more precisely, the Moon-Juno-Vesta conjunction is square to Mercury. Mercury is widely (8*) conjunct Neptune,so Neptune also square the Moon (6*).

At the same time I told him that what I appreciated most about him was his fresh original mind, despite his closed-mindedness.)) And he said that he could actually say the same about what he appreciated about me - despite my closed-mindedness.

At the same time Mercury-Pluto and Mercury-Mars aspects are probably the ones reflecting our outstanding kissing chemistry.

Both are equally important but show two very different things. One of the biggest mistakes, and I’ve said this numerous times throughout the years, is that only the Synastry will show how two people FEEL about each other, the attraction/passion/chemistry etc. so in that sense, it’s most important, that’s the foundation and the synastry will show if the two people even like each other that way or if there’s any attraction or feelings to begin with.
Composite is going to show more of the COMPATIBILITY and show the THEMES and dynamic together. The relationship itself. And it shows long-term potential and the longevity of the couple (because longevity is based on compatibility not feelings/chemistry etc. and that’s what the composite truly shows!)
Example;
Sun conjunct Uranus; an unconventional or non-traditional relationship that is unstable or different in some way. Think a couple who separates but then gets back together all the time, or an open relationship or a FWB etc. A relationship that tends to run hot and cold etc.
Sun in 12th house;
Relationship starts as a secret or an affair or the couple does drugs/drinks together a lot or just encourages bad or self-undoing behaviour thru this relationship. A draining/undermining relationship that isn’t good for either person in some way. Imbalanced. Etc.
Mercury square mars: argumentative couples, always tend to get into disagreements or bickering. They don’t agree or see eye to eye on much. They challenge each other’s opinions a lot and tend to be more irritable and defensive regarding their opinions too and when together they are more outspoken, blunt and fiesty.

Those are just a few examples.
Notice how I didn’t say how the two people felt about each other as people?
You can have a couple madly in love with tons of passion and feelings yet they argue all the time and breakup and get back together a ton etc.
To see how these people feel about the other, we look at the Synastry.

Remember too, that the composite is just an extension of the Synastry. Themes in the Synastry will always show up in the composite and vice versa, just in a different format.

So Synastry is how you feel about each other, composite is what’s going to happen and the relationship themes itself. Don’t mix the two up and you’ll start getting very accurate and concise readings

Also OP post the Synastry and composite you spoke about with your partner, you said you didn’t notice these mercury or communication issues in the synastry only in the composite, but that’s not true. It’s always there too, just need to know where to look like I said, composite is just an extension of the Synastry, it will never contradict, only reinforce.
I’ll happily break it down for you and teach you if you want just lemme know

I always liked the metaphor that the synastry is the ingredients used to bake with, and the composite is the cake that is the end product.

Without decent ingredients the cake will not be tasty or rise and so it may not even create a cake (established relationship)

It’s difficult when you meet someone to look at a composite and just assumed it wouldn’t be a good match, that’s why I think sticking to synastry before investing in someone is the right way to go about things.
If you haven’t got the right balance of energies and complimentary ingredients, it’s unlikely a cake will be produced from the connection.
No strong linking aspects from luminaries is like baking a cake with no sugar.
Obvious clashes and signifiers of instability on/off or deceit without any loving aspects and placements is prob best to avoid, even if the composite looks amazing.

I believe if you’re having to dig deep into a synastry to look for the good stuff it isn’t going to be a lasting connection no matter what the composite says.
On the other hand, the composite is supposed to be how others view the relationship itself which I find confusing, so the Davison is more along the lines of how the couple experience their connection, yet there’s also speculation on how accurate the Davison can be.

How do you feel about davison charts?

Thank you LunaIscariot!

Me as the owner of Cappy Venus square Pluto have always been interested in knowing whether my feelings are mutual. And I got disappointed by synastries at some point exactly for the reason that they cannot say exactly who feels what.

Like all the topics here - no consensus on who is obsessed, Pluto or planet, Lilith or planet, Node or planet. And some are repulsed instead of being obsessed. Let alone that some people have purely non-romantic feelings to each other despite some Venus-Pluto or Moon-Pluto.

That made me dig into Draco and overlaps between a synastry and a composite, progressed synastry and composite etc. Synastry alone is just not enough.

Similarly I am not convinced that composite doesn't show feelings. I mean id it's some Venus-Sun conjunction it can signify mutual feelings, no?

Thank you abrightfutureahead!

Dawn Bodrogi was saying that a composite reflects more of the internal chemistry of a couple (so I guess FEELINGS?..) while Davison the external events.

Sun-venus shows a harmonious/affectionate relating. Doesn’t mean love or romantic feelings though. Just a nice, friendly, good natured aspect.
Now depending on what else is in the composite or Synastry, this could manifest as having to be “fake nice” just being people are biting their tongues and being polite like a sun/Venus conjunction relationship tends to show, doesn’t mean it’s genuine or that the two people actually FEEL like they like each other.

Composite doesn’t show feelings. I don’t care what anyone says, it’s only the themes/dynamics externally of the relationship itself. It DOES NOT show how two people actually feel about each other personally. How you act vs how you feel are two very different things. How your relationship actually is (composite) vs how you feel about THEM is a different thing. You can have a totally abusive conflict ridden relationship (sun opp Pluto, mars square moon/mercury, Saturn square sun, Saturn square asc etc.) yet someone is head over heels obsessed and in love.

And sure, dynamics of a relationship can influence how two people feel about each other over time, but that’s only a byproduct and after affect, it wasn’t there naturally or organically to begin with as the Synastry would show.

Also, you don’t seem to truly understand how Synastry works and aspects. Because it absolutely 100 percent can and does show exactly how each person feels, why and who has more feelings etc. It’s literally my specialty lol you just have to know how to do it.
Houses are the most important thing in Synastry, it’s what makes it so personalized and accurate,
I’d be happy to show you some examples if you want to help you learn.

It’s why a Venus/mars square or conjunction doesn’t always translate into passion like what you read online.
If Venus or mars isn’t ruling one of the attraction/love houses like the 5, 7th, 8th or the angles, it’s not going to be felt or manifest in a romantic way. (Btw stop trusting only what you read online, most of it is garbage lol, do your own research and start asking questions/studying and taking notes and noticing patterns after readings a ton of charts to understand how the charts truly play out in a practical real world manner not just in theory).

ASC ruler conjunct DSC ruler despite what planets they are (obviously stronger if they are Venus or mars of course) is going to feel 10 times more like a Venus/mars conjunction than a regular one where these planets are ruling the 2nd (Venus) and 6th houses (mars) respectively in the partners charts.

Also, I don’t know if you seen my last post after my edit at the end lol

Thank you LunaIscariot! It would be lovely to learn more from you.

I am now trying to find a topic where someone posted charts of her friend (a girl) and her crush (also a girl). Don't remember now if it was a synastry or a composite, but it looked mutual, so that the friend (encouraged by the topic starter) made a move and got a turn down. If anyone finds this topic, please post it here!

One thing I am not getting particularly is who feels something - the planet or the cusp. It varies so much.

Thank you for your kind suggestion, I am always happy to learn about my relationship charts. Especially who feels more. I want a guarantee that someone is in love with me but alas... don't think astrology can provide that.

So here are the charts with that Mercury guy, my current relationship.

Our synastry (I am inside):

Our Draco synastry:

my natal Asc 17*39 Sco
his Draco Dsc 18*23 Sco
my Draco asteroid for my name 18*37 Sco
my Draco DNA 18*47 Sco

Also, my Draco Venus is conjunct his natal Moon within 1*30 orb.

His Draco Moon & my Draco Sun are conjunct with 0,02* orb.

His Draco Amor conjunct my natal South Node exact, my Draco Valentine conjunct his South Node exact.

My Draco Neptune is conjunct his natal Valentine DW, his Draco Neptune is conjunct my natal Valentine DW (and his natal Amor, square to my natal Pluto & my Draco Amor on top of Pluto).

Our composite (tropical):

Another thing with this guy is the Pluto thing. We don't have much Pluto in a synastry except for a wide conjunction of my Asc to his Pluto (6*) and a square of his Pluto to my Nodes. If to really dig for something my Moon stellium is on his Moon/Pluto midpoint.

However I feel very Plutonic with him. It aligns better to our composite Venus-Pluto wide conjunction (8*). Although wide, the Venus is right on Saturn/Pluto midpoint which is kind of how I feel.

Well it could as well be Moon-Pluto opposition in the Draco synastry, I don't know...

I feel very Plutonic and wish he were the same!

Alma, I wonder if the Plutonian energy you are feeling is representative of your own Plutonic energy, and perhaps this is how you are within all relationships.?
If not aspects to Pluto, your planets sitting within your 8th house?

I like this synastry though, Jupiter sitting in the 7th is nice. Sun/moon conjunction- nice

abrightfutureahead, thank you, yes it could be my energy, I don't know, but I don't feel it with everyone.

Jupiter in that position is frequent for me in synastries since it builds up to a grand trine (or other planets in Gemini).

Sun-Moon - I had a more precise conjunction, and there was no relationship.

I will now post more of my previous synastries.

Case 2 (I am always inside)

I was obsessed with him for 2 years, he kind of also seemed affected but he never made a move; didn't respond to my move; there was no relationship - which I think is due to a composite Saturn on Asc square stellium

Case 6.

My first man; I had more feelings, for him it was a rebound; I broke up after about a year because of inequality of feelings; then I was the one who suffered and kept obsessing for a couple of years

His time of birth is exact but I perceived more of Aqua in him so wondering if his Asc was actually in early Aqua on my Sun; but by his appearance he matched Cappy Asc; by his vibes he was more Aqua

As you can see, there's a lot of repeating aspects whereas relationship patterns and feelings are different.

I forgot to tell you to post the charts using EQUAL house system lol
And add asteroids
433,16,763,4386,3811,1585,6583,157
And juno, Ceres, vertex, Nessus, chiron

Also, how sure are you of the others birthtimes? Has to be 100 percent accurate, unless they seen their birth certificates or asked a trusted family member etc. the readings won’t be accurate!

I’ll come back later and start giving my insights once the charts are uploaded again with equal house and the asteroids I mentioned

Thank you LunaIscariot!

Yes the times are precise, I only have doubts about Case 6 since I perceive him more as Aqua Asc, although by pure appearance he does fit his Cappy Asc.

So here it is.

Case 1. My current relationship (me inside).
