Trines and sextiles are definitely not as strong as conjunctions, but in the case of the North Node I think can be a good thing depending on where someone is on their nodal path. We tend to resist our NN lessons, so (I've seen) the NN person resist the Venus person's conjunction to their NN. I've also seen the Venus person resist the SN person in a SN/Venus conjunction. With the trine/sextile it's not as strong a connection but also not as strong a repulsion, I think. Venus is a stepping stone along the path rather than embodying the lesson itself.
