Progressed composite where Sun/Moon are at 22 Capricorn, opposite Venus at 22 Cancer. Sun/Moon in 10th house conjunct MC, Venus in 4th house conjunct IC.

To rephrase: A New Moon opposite Venus along the 10th/4th axis, in Capricorn and Cancer. Couple broke up a few months after this aspect perfected. The breakup seems somewhat paradoxical to me because I've learned that New Moons are a "new beginning" while Full Moons are "culmination points." Does anyone have insight on this?

Not so paradoxical. They’re opposite - the energies are opposed and there is therefore conflict between the two.
