I’m trying to understand the quincunx in synastry. I know there’s some friction and it requires some accommodating. Is it a binary energy, like a zero sum either-or scenario? For example, Venus quincunx Sun in synastry. If he is shining (sun) does that mean I feel less attractive (Venus) or my self-care takes a hit? How would Venus quincunx Venus play out? Both partners take turns on the auxiliary cable? Haha. (While being a bit uncomfortable through the other’s songs?) Or both partners take turns — okay first I’m loved how I want, then you’re loved how you want, the methods and tastes are different but Venus can accommodate that? (because… well, Venus ) Oppositions I understand: there’s an attraction like eyes meeting across the room, but totally opposite approaches and styles. Squares in synastry feel like makeup sex or a bit clashing and abrasive but you kind of stick together in the relationship until one or both are hurt. But it can work, depending on the planets involved. Just a bit of a fight sometimes with that hard angle. Can anyone share what it felt like to be in quincunx in their relationship? IP: Logged |

Great question.I would love to learn more about this aspect in synastry as well. Up until recently, I thought a semi-sextile was a positive aspect. The semi-sextile is apparently considered a part of the quincunx dilemma too. IP: Logged |

Quincunx are weird energy. Not quite fitting right, they require constant adjustment, it is almost as though they don't speak the same language. However, not all quincunxes are created equal. SOme of them have the same rulers so they might be more positive than negative. Examples: Quincunx involving Aries and Scorpio, both ruled by Mars. Quincunx involving Taurus and Libra, both ruled by Venus. Magi astrology claims that all quincunxes are positive, EXCEPT quincunxes where one of the planets is Saturn. In such case, Magi astrology says Saturn will NOT make adjustments, therefore it will function as a hard, negative aspect. IP: Logged |
