Hi, geminigal!

1. When a significator is combust, I usually interpret that as being fascinated by something that makes him or her blind or oblivious to what is truly going on. Staring into the Sun makes you unable to see anything else. lol

2. I try not to do cosignificators. One is usually enough.

3. Well essential dignity still stands, combustion however is accidental debility. It means said significator is a very nice person in a shady situation. Accidental debility weakens the planet and makes it unable to act, or act in a manner that might not be in their best interest because they don't have eyes on the actual facts.

4. Exaltation is a form of essential dignity, as rulership is. If you mean in terms of strength, then rulership trumps exaltation. I would be a little careful about exaltation because it can overload the planet and make it act a little too much with the energy of the sign.
