So I've asked the question: does X want a romantic relationship with me? But, I'm not too sure what house to use. We haven't been together, so he hasn't made it to ex status.

He is my friend first and foremost, so I am leaning more towards H11. At the same time, I am thinking that should I use H5?
Which could be more fitting, but... we aren't lovers. We've never kissed etc.

Is there any other reason why he is not "moving closer" towards me? I have a feeling that he is holding back, does the chart indicate this?

I am represented by Moon and Mars.
If I take him to be represented by Mercury - Ruler of H11. Then we are trine and applying.

Perhaps I am more interested in him because my Mars has dignity in Aries. With that said, I cannot help but feel that he is holding back somewhat. Does the chart give an insight into why this may be?

P.s. yes, this is a night chart

Venus is in aries though which is your ruler mars so he is into you. I read some sites that say if the 7th house is in the first house ruler the 7th house person does like the 1st house alot.

The moon is only a secondary significator at best, unless the AC is in Cancer. Primarily, it signifies the situation.

Were you romantically interested in him from the start? Or was it only friendship and these feelings just came out of nowhere or developed along the way?

It's hard to say. I understand the reasons for looking at the 5th, 7th, or 11th. In confusing cases, it's customary to use the 7th. But, the only one that works out nicely to a trine is 5th.

In this case, I'm not sure. But, looking at the AC vs 11th for whether what you wish is true - it is not. Looking at AC vs 4th for the end of the matter - it's past, so I would say no as well.

Hmmm AB!

It's hard.

We met in 2005.
I didn't like him romantically and then started liking him secretly, after a while I then told him.
Things didn't progress, but I guess on my side, it's never been just a pure friendship. So, I guess trying to decide on the house which represents him is difficult.

But, I guess if it's custom to look at H7, that's the way forward.

Through horary it doesn't look promising, and through your story, it doesn't sound promising either. Might be best to just let it go and learn to appreciate him as just a friend, if that's possible. :-(
