His sig is in detriment in my first house and trine Mercury/me. I'm going to guess he's either been having passing thoughts about me, or that sextile he makes to Venus is him thinking about how some new chick is nothing like me. He's conjunct the north node and Ascendant.

I actually posted a chart with nearly the same type of question and our charts are almost identical, lol. If you look down this tread it's titled: Horary practice - check my work. You can see my interps for it.

The only difference is some of your houses are different than mine by a few degrees.

I'll tell you what I think BUT I'm very new at this so keep that in mind. I may be off on a few points.

He's definitely thinking about you and he's shaken up about it - hence the detriment. And I'm inclined to think that the sextile to Venus in your 3rd shows that he may have thought about contacting you. The chart you posted doesn't show the planet's degrees, so I can't tell if it's applying or separating.
Besides communication, the 3rd is also the house of the mind. With Venus in detriment here I think it describes your emotional/mental turmoil over the situation too. On a side note, with Saturn sitting in the 3rd I believe it may be showing reluctance to contact you (since it opposes the moon). Communication is somehow restricted or that it will be delayed.

With Chiron conjunct desc but in his 12th house, I'm inclined to think he's hurt but is hiding it or not consciously acknowledging it.

Yep that sounds like him. His Pisces Moon was easily upset and shaken. The sad thing is that I tried so hard, way too hard to make him like me. I mean I know he did like me, but I'm not sure it was as much as he said he did. I showed too much effort and he didn't show enough. He said that he still wanted me in his life and maybe we could try later because it was the wrong time now, but I feel like it's only the wrong time when it's the wrong person, like he thought I wasn't the right one. I still have this silly hope that I'll wake up with a text from him saying he wants to try hard to show he cares, but I think that's just a naïve thought. Thank you for your interpretation <3. I suppose if it's meant to be something than I'll hear from him; I definitely reached out too often when we were talking, so I hope he'd be the one to do that this time.
