Hi everyone

How would one read a horary chart for something that happened in the past?

The same way, but you would be looking for SEPARATING aspects between key significators.

Well I asked a "why" question, how could I interpret moons separating aspects?

Hi lilypad18,

I agree with tofuaddict. You are Mercury (Ac ruler) and he, the ex, is Jupiter (7H ruler). Your Mercury is placed in your 5th house conjunct Venus: I'd say you're still romantically interested in him (maybe that's why you're asking the question?). His Jupiter is placed in your 1st house: it means he's still interested in a relationship with you, but Jupiter is in detriment in Virgo (weak): maybe he thinks you're not that interested in him anymore. Although the outer planets are not used in traditional horary astrology, I'm doing that here. Neptune conjunct DC, reinforces his doubts about your interest. His Jupiter in your 1st trine your Mercury in the 5th, shows a connection between you: you probably still think of each other in a romantic/relationship level. The Moon rules the 11th (house of friendship) and shows your concern about the motifs of his friendship interest. Also the Moon is placed in the 5th: you expect that there's still some love interest from his part behind the friendship excuse. Venus, the planet of love and relationships, is placed in the 5H (its natural house in traditional horary) and conjunct Mercury (you) and trine Jupiter (him). The Moon (friendship ruler) conjunct the Mercury-Venus combo: I think the friendship is definitely an excuse he's using to get closer to you and try to establish a relationship again. Saturn rules the Venus-Mercury-Moon combo and is placed in Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter, his significator) in your 4H and in tense aspect to Jupiter: did the relationship end because it was restrictive or created problems with your family?

Thanks roseelima for your detailed explanation!

I think the relationship ended because it was restrictive for him.

I understand. I thought of some restriction when I saw Saturn ruling your Mercury-Venus-Moon combo in the 5th and placed in the 4th in a square to his Jupiter. But I think there's a chance of you getting closer again. His main significator, Jupiter, is retrograde which is usually considered a separative aspect but in cases of a relationship "take back", this is considered a favorable aspect for people to get back together. Also the essential dignities of the planets involved show he didn't get over you. His Jupiter is in Virgo, sign ruled by Mercury (your main significator). This shows he truly likes you and you're still in his head. Your co-significators (Sun for him and Venus for you) are placed in Aquarius and Capricorn, signs that share the same ruler (Saturn), suggesting there's still mutual sexual attraction. But think that if Jupiter is retrograde and is a slow moving planet, he won't share his thoughts so fast although I think you'll tend to get close again overtime.

So, you think we will meet up again? I would like to know what is he up to, but I have it clearly in my mind that I won't contact him again. Last time I did, I told him I missed him and he didn't say anything back, so I already gave him a chance of telling me something.

Plus, I don't have his number or some common friend to contact him. I would like him to make a move and contact him, but it doesn't seem like he's going to

I'm not really familiarized with Horary to be honest. But I've been trying to practice to improve. The aspects I saw in your chart are described in traditional horary astrology as favorable to a return. You confirned that he felt restricted inside the relationship and I see Pluto making a hard aspect (conjunction) to your 3 significators (Venus, Mercury and Moon). Pluto shows there was passion, intensity and depth from your side but also possessiveness and jealousy. His Jupiter trines Pluto shows there was intensity from his part too but without the extreme controlling and possessive behaviour. Saturn, as a ruler of your significators, adds even more restriction to the dynamic. His Jupiter square Saturn indicates he didn't really accept being controlled/restricted and that brought conflicts between you. Btw, when did he try to be your friend? Was it long ago or recently? I'm asking cause this chart refers to a past event and all that I said was related to that specific situation.
