So I asked if this person was truly sorry. He was someone I use to date who sent me a apology letter. But it being mercury retrograde I rebuffed them and decided to not go down that road.

I am represent Mercury in 9th in retrograde and Moon in 1st this implies my indecisiveness to accept their apology.

They're are Jupiter in Virgo in detriment my 1st house turned their 7th conjunct the mean north. So maybe he was thinking of trying to go the route of self improvement because it conjunct his significator.

Mars in my 3rd could be my anger that was expressed in the communication.

Neptune conjunct his asc could be information he was unaware of. Or some kind of self-deception.

My Mercury and their Jupiter are trine which means yes?

They ARE Jupiter in Virgo, which I actually think is fitting and you'll see my train of thought here...

I asked a similar question once and was told we use 9th house for apologies because it's the house of philosophy / higher learning and thinking. Although looking back we could ask if he truly regrets it and use the 10th house because that's Saturn's natural house, and regret is totally a Saturn thing.

Anyway, so to simplify let's just use 9th house. We have Venus ruling it and you can see Mercury and Venus are separating. I believe this to represent the sending and receiving of the letter but also your declination.

Jupiter is in Virgo in your first house to show he's thinking of you but he can't do much since he already extended himself so the ball is in your court.

Okay, so he receives you by being Jupiter in Virgo, and you are applying to him as Mercury. However, I would read this as there's more communication but since Mercury is in RX and so is Mars, the action planet, I don't think it'll go anywhere.

Yes, you're right Mars in the 3rd is both your anger and the act of communicating. But I feel he brought up a lot of stuff you hadn't thought about in awhile so it's like fresh anger all over again, lol.

Depends on how you roll but most horary readers never use anything beyond Saturn, so the Neptune aspects are null. However, he is represented by Pisces so...there are still issues there and he's not in great shape being in his opposite sign. Did he recently get over some sickness or bad luck?

I don't know we haven't been in direct contact with one another in more than a year. I know that he shared he was depressed last year and decided to move to Canada because of it.
Maybe he's not having luck there and it's affecting his self esteem since mars rules his 2nd house and is rx in his turned 9th house long journeys.

Mercury trine Jupiter never perfects, so that aspect cannot be considered affirmation.

By the way, Mercury being retro means restriction or revisiting, not lies. This is not tarot and doesn't work the same as a reversal. Jupiter in 1st with Critical moon tells me all I need to know that he was sincere. However, his third ruler is well dignified, ruled by Venus conjunct Sun-another 'yes'. Then his 9th ruler is well-dignified in 9th also retrograde. NOTHING on this chart says 'no' only that with retro that he may change his mind (meaning he may revisit this apology with some new perspective when significators go direct). This isn't the end of this matter. Mars goes direct June 6th, I think. You'll find out soon. 3rd and 9th rulers being well-dignified, I'd say he means it just will likely have a different tone later on. The retro is indicative of revisiting in the form of an apology, not a lie.
