I'm in my Mars Mahadasha now. This period began in 2014 and ends 2021.. This Mahadasha is relatively short compared to Venus Mahadasha, or Rahu Mahadasha.

I would say that during Mars Mahadasha, which brings the flavors of my own 11th house Taurus Mars, the quantity and intensity of love relationships has increased. I actually feel the need to withdraw from the love arena (something I never thought I'd say) because relationships are way too fast and furious right now. I have become fixated on material wealth and both the freedom; independence, and ability ("power") that comes with it, as well as the luxury and convenience it affords.

I have had several situations in which I had to assert myself in a way I have never been comfortable doing before. During this period I have been challenged to speak up for myself, and I've surprised myself by accepting one challenge after another. In the beginning the anxiety I would feel, wondering what other people think, was painful. Later, I learned to accept and brush off, if necessary, the reactions of others to my assertion of my needs. I still get scared every time I need to step forward, but I am happy I can. Even if I make a mistake, I'm happy to know I can stick up for myself.

And now that I can confidently identify what I want and need, I seem to be planning obsessively on how to get it. Does Mars Mahadasha prep you for Rahu Mahadasha?... Will Rahu be about "the getting"? Is the reason I am so focused on financial security and prosperity because my own Mars is in my Taurus 11th house? With Leo Rahu in my 2nd house is this trend likely to continue and become more intense in 5 years when Rahu Mahadasha begins?

Dasa bhukti periods are planetary periods that indicate the planets ruling during those times. Generally, events indicated by the Mahadasa happen during the relevant Antardasa. To read the effects of Dasha lords the following qualitative assessment should be made: - The natural qualities of the planets. - The sign qualities where the planet is based its dignity in that sign whether Exalted, Debilitated or Retrograde - Its benefic or malefic disposition as lord of house/houses - Benefic or malefic nature as per Nakshatra Siddhanta - Sum effects of its benefic or malefic in Divisional disposition - Its strength in motional direction (Ucchabhilashi (towards exaltation) I Neechabhilashi (towards debilitation) and the combust positions and the speed of planets (ati Chara etc.) - In the descending order of the strength each planet operates as Bhukti lord in every Dasha.

Thus, the dasa bhukti (by dasa calculator) and the events that happen during the phase, are wholly dependent on the placement of the planets and their strength and weaknesses on the individual's rasi chart.
