People. I am studying a chart with Moon in 8th house in Virgo in Rashi
Moon-Rahu in 8th house in Leo in Navamsha (D9)

What does this indicate? I've read its one of the badass combinations in Vedic astrology and astrologers don't have a good thing to say about it.

I know stalkers, obsessive people are seen from this conjunction. But what else, esp when moon is twice in Rashi and Navamsha in the 8th house.

there could be some strain in relationship with older sibling but the sibling is always there to pick you up with encouragement. sudden ups and downs with regards to income.
becomes attached to people to are going through emotional problems. mother could have experienced much up and downs.
friends cause depression,
if this moon is in bad dignity then this person could become obsessive with death, a positive will be if the person were to be a murder investigator or surgeon. if the moon is damaged and has no aspect from Jupiter but one from rahu that could possibly create a dangerous scenario with regard to the persons thought patterns.
check for Jupiter aspect and if the moon is waning or waxing, nakshatra is also important.

I think that's a tricky question. The conjunction is not always bad by itself (Gandhi had that conjunction in Cancer 10th house in D1). It depends on other factors like the condition of the Moon specially and also Rahu. Why? Because the Moon is the receptive planet in that conjunction so Rahu will amplify the features of the Moon. Another thing that's important is to check the dispositors, in that case, Mercury and Sun, in both charts,

The condition of the Moon will depend on:

1) the Ascendant. In your case, a Virgo 8H shows that the person is an Aquarius Ascendant. For this specific Ascendant, Cancer is in the 6H, so the Moon is a functional malefic because it rules a dhusthana house. So that planet will take the tendencies of the house it rules (6H) and manifest them in the house it's placed (8H).

2) the sign the Moon is placed. In the D1, the Moon is in a Virgo 8H and in the D9 it's in a Leo 8H. Virgo is the mooltrikona sign of Mercury and Leo is the mooltrikona sign of Sun. It means that the dispositors of the Moon (Mercury and Sun) in both charts are not in good conditions. Mercury situation is even worse than the Sun's cause its mooltrikona sign, Virgo, rules a dhusthana house in D1, so that planets also becomes a functional malefic. The Sun, on the other hand, rules the 5th, a trikona house.

So only by checking those 2 factors we already see the Moon in Virgo in D1 is not in good shape reinforced by its bad condition in D9. To see if the bad situation can be aggravated. Let's check the friendship between the Moon and the dispositors (Mercury and Sun):

3) Permanent friendship: Moon placed in the sign of Virgo and Leo does well cause the Moon is a natural friend of Mercury and Sun. However, remember that Mercury is also a functional malefic for Aquarius ascendant, so we have 2 functional malefics operating together. And the Sun is in bad shape in D9 ruling a dhusthana there.

4) Temporary friendship: to see if the Moon is a temporary friend of Mercury and Sun is necessary to see the houses in which those planets are placed in D1. If Mercury and Sun are placed in the 1st, 5th,6th,7th,8th or 9th counting from the Moon, in D1, they become temporary enemies of that planet. As you didn't mention the house placements of those planets, I can't tell. If those planets aren't in such houses, they are temporary friends.

It's mandatory to combine the permanent and temporary friendship to see if Virgo and Leo are friend, neutral or enemy signs of the Moon for that person specifically. There are tables with those combinations if you want to check that manually but the websites and softwares that calculate the charts already give you the information for each planet and says if the signs they are placed in are great friends, friends, neutral, enemies or great enemies.

5) Aspects the Moon and its dispositors get from functional benefics and malefics for Aquarius Ascendant. For such ascendant, Venus and Saturn are benefics; Moon, Mercury, Rahu and Ketu are malefics; Sun, Mars and Jupiter are neutral. I don't know "who aspects who" in your chart, so I can't say anything about it.

Based only on the info you provided, I'd say that the Moon in Virgo in D1, being a functional malefic in a sign ruled by Mercury (another functional malefic) would make one cautious and calculative in emotional matters because when he attaches to something/someone the connection is deep to the point he becomes a submissive. It could show someone with a very strong sense of perfectionism, organization, cleanness in his daily private life, maybe initial shyness regarding intimacy (including sex) and praticality in the management of shared/other people's resources. As the Moon is in bad condition, those features could become very strong. With the Moon conjunct Rahu in Leo in the 8th in D9, I'd say the motivation behind the behavior saw in the D1 is the obsessive need for appreciation from others. When others don't give this person the value he expects to get, hurt feelings, anger, drama and posterior depression can arise. The confidence can be unstable and dependent from the reinforcement given by other people.

Hello Thank you! Its indeed a tricky question but I cannot find anything positive about it - so now its up to me to get a good interpretation.

To get the picture complete: indeed Aquarius ascendant. Jupiter (Rx) in Gemini in 5th house, Ketu in 6th in Cancer, Mars in 9th in Libra and Sun and Mercury conjunct in 10th house in Scorpio. Venus and Saturn are in 11th house, Rahu in 12th in Capricorn in Nakshatra of Dhanistha.

In D9: Jupiter and Ketu are conjunct in 2nd house in Aquarius. Does this say this person will be more of humanitarian and won't give too much about money?

Moon and Rahu in 8th house, Sun and Saturn in 9th house in Virgo and Mercury and Venus in 11th house.

I wil try to get further with the information you gave me. Please let me know what your thoughts are! Thanks so much :-)

Oh, ok, lol!

Again, it's widely known Moon-Rahu is one of the harshest conjunctions, specially for a woman since the Moon is a feminine planet. But as I said, it'll always depend on the condition of those planets. Moon and Rahu are neutral towards each other, so if both planets are in good shape and that conjunction happens in water signs or in water houses, for example, that can give a lot of spiritual purpose, psychic abilities or very strong interest in the occult to a person. So the "obsession" will not always manifest negatively. If you check Gandhi's chart, you'll see that he has such conjunction happening in Cancer. He's a Libra Ascendant, so the Moon is a neutral planet in his case, is placed in its own sign (strong), is not dominated by Rahu (Rahu is placed in the sign ruled by the Moon, then controlled by it), is placed in the 10H and is not directly aspected by any malefic. The 10H is an Artha house (related to recognition and fame) and also a Kendra house (house of achievement, the strongest angular one). Gandhi was very attached to his home country (Moon in Cancer) and fought for its improvement tiresslely and obsessively, it became a sort of mission in his life (Moon-Rahu). He became a spiritual leader (Moon-Rahu in a water sign) and became wordly famous for that (Moon-Rahu in the 10H, house of authority/status/career). So Rahu (the obsession) served the Moon purpose (fighting for his country) and not the opposite. He dedicated his life to a noble cause. So, as you can see, it's a danger to treat astrological placements in a stereotypical way but unfortunately, that's what we find in descriptions/videos spread all over the internet. Each case should be analyzed and treated as a specific one, keep that in mind. But coming back to your chart. I added the extra info you gave me and delineated the D1 and D9 chart manually to take a general look at the Moon and also try to answer your question regarding Jupiter and Ketu.

In D1, the Moon rules the 6H and is placed in the 8H creating Harsha Viparita Raja yoga, a yoga that can suddenly revert bad results and give victory over enemies, but those results will depend very much on the functionality of the planet involved and aspects it gets. The 6H lord (Moon) is a functional malefic for Aqua Ascendant, and being placed in the 8th will tend to create enemies, diseases, debts, litigations (6H matters) out of nowhere (sudden events, 8H house manifestation). The Moon is in a sign ruled by Mercury (another functional malefic for Aqua Ascendant). Mercury is placed in the 9H (trikona, strong house) in the sign of Scorpio and is aspected by Ketu in Cancer (ruled by the Moon). Those configurations will make the intellect (Mercury) obsessive, analytical and emotionally extremist. The mind (the Moon) will be ruled by that "black or white" thought process of Mercury making such a person have emotions on the edge, moving from one extreme to the other like a roller coaster. Mercury conjunct the Sun, so what one thinks (Mercury) also affects his identity (Sun), that is, it shapes the way that person sees himself. With Ketu in Cancer aspecting them, I'd say there's some dissatisfaction in the way the person sees himself. I don't know the degree of the conjunction but if Mercury in Scorpio is combust, add to the mixture: bad ability to make rational decisions, lack of concentration and problems in communication. Mercury rules the 5H and the 8H and is placed in the 9H, so joy, spontaneity, love life, sex, intimate relationships can be deeply affected by all that and the person can have a hard time understanding and accepting different points of view and will try to impose his belief system (9H) onto others.

The Moon also gets a drishti (look) from Rahu placed in the 12H (another dhusthana). Rahu is a natural malefic and a permanent neutral to the Moon but, in this chart, it's placed in the 12H (5th from that planet) becoming a temporary enemy of the Moon. As we can see, the poor Moon beside being a functional malefic, is placed in a malefic house and is being trashed by its dispositor (Mercury) and also by aspect (Rahu). On the other hand, Saturn also aspects the Moon. Saturn is the chart ruler and functional benefic for Aqua Ascendant and is also a friend of the Moon in this chart. Rahu in the 12H gives extreme imagination, psychic abilities and interest in spirituality, foreign settlements, charity and even isolation, and those things could manifest in a good or bad way depending on its sign and aspects it receives. Here, Rahu is dignified in Capricorn (great friend sign), and being controlled by Saturn (chart ruler and friend of the Moon) so it softens its malefic aspect on the Moon. Rahu in Capricorn is obsessed about structure, organization, achieving goals, so its influence on the Moon in Virgo, can make the Moon come back to reality by reinforcing its earthy qualities. Rahu's dispositor, Saturn, is in the 11H Sagittarius (sign of foreign elements) so we have here two configurations that speak for foreign settlement: Rahu (foreign element) in Cap in the 12H (foreign land) ruled by Saturn in Sagittarius (foreign element) in the 11H. That person could move to foreign lands due to involvement in some humanitarian activity or social work.

You asked about Jupiter-Ketu conjunction in D9. Yes, that conjunction in D9 could represent someone who's detached (Ketu) from money and could spend/give it away easily (Jupiter). Or it could represent someone who makes money through spiritual practices or even teaching about spirituality. This is strongly reinforced by the fact that such conjunction happens in the Ascendant sign of this person. The material detachment is part of one's personality. Aquarius is a humanitarian sign ruled by Saturn, planet that is placed in the 9H (house of foreign elements). Again, other indication of some sort of social work related to foreign lands. Jupiter-Ketu in the 2H and Moon-Rahu in the 8H aspect each other, so it seems the mind is completely focused on that kind of thing. In the D1, the Moon in Virgo could represent that those goals would be seen by others as a deep desire to serve (Virgo quality) but in fact the D9 (what's behind the D1) shows that the internal motivation is getting appreciation (Moon in Leo). It's like this person wants and needs to do something good and big to get admiration from others cause this is necessary for the nourishment of the soul. Coming back to D1, Ketu is in Cancer in the 6H and Rahu is in the 12H, showing this person is detached from serving their home (country) and obsessed with the idea of getting structured/building something in foreign lands.

Oh thank you so much for your information. I couldn't not really connect the dots. This person has communication problems since the last two years. She was a brilliant communicator but it takes time to produce the right sentences. Also has trouble concentrating. One thing to add - you said Mercury is in the 9th house. Mercury and Sun are both in 10th house in Scorpio. Mars is in the 9th house in Libra.

I guess this will affect the persons career and will make someone dig deep into secrets and mysteries as Mars is related to the 4th house. Perhaps - real estate/woman (domestic violence) and foreign entities because in D10 chart Rahu is conjunct Saturn in ascendant.

I've read in a book that Jupiter conjunct Ketu in Navamsha also could mean that a person will be wealthy but detached because he doesn't give much about money.

Also, I asked the person and she has concentration problems since she turned 26. Moon is at 26 degrees, is there a link between age and degree of a planet when they get fully activated? I know that Navamsha is always there but gets fully activated after the age of 35/36.

Sorry for my mistake. I wrote the info wrong for some reason, but all those aspects from planets are ok. Yep, that conjunction in the 10H can affect the career for sure, because Mercury as a functional malefic sitting in a kendra will create pronounced results and changes, like you mentioned. Mars is a neutral planet for this Ascendant. Being in Libra in the 9th would give one resilience to fight for what he believes in. It aspects the 12H (energizing Rahu to get what it wants), aspects the 3H (its own house, Aries), house of communication and intellectual activities. I think this person has the ability to overcome his communication difficulties. The only issue I see here is that Mars is being aspected by Jupiter (a neutral) but that planet is retrograde in Gemini, sign ruled by the functional malefic Mercury. I think that condition of Jupiter could create some lack of optimism and retraction due to the communication problem since that planet is in enemy sign. But since Mars rules Scorpio, sign that controls Mercury, I really think this person can overcome those obstacles finding a way out of them.

I never read/heard of anything linking the degree of the planet to the person's age. Did you check the dashas for the period when the problem started? Periods or subperiods of Mercury or Sun could activate that since they are conjunct.

I've asked the person and the problems started during the start of Jupiter Mahadasha. Before, she was an excellent speaker. Currently, the person is running Jupiter-Saturn dasha. Right now Saturn is in the 10th house and will move away from Mercury in 2017 I guess speech and communication will get better.
Well, I've read somewhere that some planets get fully activated at a certain age. I know for Mars its 28 years, Saturn will give its fruits around 30 years.. But I also have read that the degree makes a difference. I will do some research on it and let you know.

Yes, it's true that planets and houses express themselves fully at a certain age according to their nature (see the link at the bottom of the paragraph). The 10H reaches maturity at 25-26 yrs old. Mercury is the most malefic planet to that person (its mooltrikon sign, Virgo, rules the 8H) and is sitting right there in the 10H conjunct the Sun. Mercury controls retrograde Jupiter in Gemini creating retraction on communication (Jupiter and Gemini both represent spoken communication). In D9, Jupiter is sitting with Ketu in the 2H (house of speech) in Aquarius (her Ascendant, her physical body) getting a drishti from Moon-Rahu in the 8th (sudden events). Those configurations show the sudden manifestation of the problem on a physical level. Since the Moon is in Virgo in D1, sign ruled by the great functional malefic Mercury, Jupiter-Ketu being looked by the Moon-Rahu in Leo in D9 is a also a bad thing. The sign the Moon is in that chart doesn't help much cause Leo is ruled by the Sun and that planet conjunct malefic Mercury in D1. I know most astrologers say the D9 is fully activated at 35-36 yrs old but the truth is that such divisional chart is not totally inactive before that age. In fact, the D9 works like a "behind the scenes" guy of the events that are showed and experienced by the person in the D1. The D9 shows the spiritual core of the horoscope. You said that the problem started during Jupiter Mahadasha and as mentioned before Jupiter is a planet related to speech (check that link I gave you about retrograde planets in the other thread). Being retrograde and controlled by Mercury (the most malefic planet) in D1 can definitely explain the communication being affected by the restriction of speech. The activation of the 10H, house that Mercury (Jupiter's dispositor) is sitting in D1, at the age of 26 yrs old shows why the problem started at that age. You said that the person is currently going through Jupiter-Saturn dasha and that Saturn is in her 10H (house that triggered the problem) so it makes sense she's experiencing the problem on a physical level since she's an Aquarius Ascendant and Saturn rules her 1H, house that represents the physical body and also the head (speech is a function completely developed in that body part, involving the mouth, cranial nerves and brain activity). I think you're right: when Saturn moves away from that house and Mercury, she'll tend to get better. But back to the degree of the planets, the only one thing I've seen about it is the classification regarding their maturity (infant, adult, elderly). Yes, let me know if you find out something else about it. http://www.venoastrology.com/maturityplanetshouses.html
