hello vedic savvys!

I was wondering, which planet or other astrological body/term do you think is associated with Shiva?

I searched a lot for this. some say that Shiva is saturn as he has an hourglass which controls the time, and saturn also is associated with time so they say saturn and shiva are the same.

but I was looking at shiva's pictures (the way he seems to be always portrayed) and he just seems so jovial. I have known saturn dominant people and they all look so dry and serious. also, after studying shiva's myths and stories, he just doesn't come across as saturn to me. more like a mix between jupiter and pluto.

so what are your thoughts?

lord shiva as we all know is connected to destruction and removal of things which are not required, he is the god of storms/thunder/lightening/hurricanes/ferocious winds, but its not always that way, he is seen as a very powerful yet calm being, he has many forms and each form is actually a part of the universal supreme soul

if we look at signs, then aquarius is the sign of lord shiva, aquarius as we know is connected with all above mentioned weather significations and very uncontrollable, in vedic astrology apart from signs we go deeper into nakshatras which help differentiate one part of the sign from another, shiva is connected to the nakshatra ( asterism ) of arudra which spans between 6.40 gemini to 20.0 gemini, this asterism is connected to the fierce form of shiva- which is rudra

in terms of planets- rahu is the perfect symbolism of shiva- although shiva has a form for connected to every planet, from my research in numerology and pattern finding nature i noticed that people with strong rahu influence are always fond of lord shiva, rahu by the way is the co lord of aquarius and denotes the unconventional/sudden/cataclysmic nature of shiva

@anneksadh

thank you so much for your thorough response!

Very interesting indeed! Especially about shiva being associated with those degrees of gemini and of course rahu.

one question to clarify though, is rahu the north node in western? I thought uranus was connected to weather turbulences and also co ruled Aquarius

And may I ask, what type of numerology you use? I once calculated shiva (not siva) with the pythagorean system and the result was saggitarius

anekksadh your post was on point. There are a few other Nakshatras I find connected to Shiva as well like Mula which is from 0-13.30 Sagittarius, Purvabhadrapada at 20 Aquarius to 3.30 Pisces, and Dhanishta at 23.20 Capricorn to 6.40 degrees Aquarius.

Mula is ruled by Kali consort of Shiva. Purvabhadrapada is ruled by Ajaekpada who is a form of Rudra, and it represents lightning. I've heard that its the pinnacle of Shiva energy. Dhanishta is symbolized by the the Damaru which is the hourglass drum of Shiva.

girlwiththerainysoul the Pythagorean result could be Sagittarius because of Mula Nakshatra which is completely in the sign of Sagittarius.

@anekksadh and @RhythmNProse

I must have mistaken shiva for something else I calculated.

I calculated shiva again and the results in each system:

pythagorian: pisces
modern: gemini, virgo
sepherial: leo
cheiro/chaldean: pisces

for siva:
pythagorian: Capricorn
modern: Scorpio, Libra
sepherial: cancer
cheiro/chaldean: cancer

Thank you I'm happy to be here. Are those degrees for the Great Attractor tropical or sidereal because the Nakshatra degrees I listed are sidereal. I've heard about it before but I'm not too familiar with it so I wouldnt know if its connected, but i'll check out that link and look more into it.

Hi girlwiththerainysoul
Yes rahu is north node in western, rahu co rules aquarius in vedic chart analysis which does not include Uranus/Pluto/Neptune
In western we connect Uranus to aquarius, if you notice both rahu and Uranus have almost the same qualities, both are unconventional/futuristic/unpredictable/perfectionists/obsessive,
Infact in numerology number 4 is ruled by both rahu and Uranus, the westerners/kaballah connect 4 with Uranus and vedic numerology which follows the same planet to number association connects 4 with rahu
Similarly number 7 is rules by Neptune and ketu ( south node )
I follow the kaballah numerology system, honestly speaking I have not found a single book on numerology which is accurate and concrete, most of the books are very ambiguous and vague in their descriptions,
all the numerology I learnt was by simply associating the knowledge of astrology to the numbers through the planet, the planetary significations to the numbers, just by daily reality checks and observing people around me and the combination of birth number/destiny number and sun sign to understand the complete nature of a person
I am not sure what system of calculation you are using, how are you connecting names to zodiac signs with numerology ?
Hi rhythmprose
yes shiva has a form connected to most signs and nakshatras, arudra nakshatra is the fierce form of shiva- rudra and is pictured beautifully in prashant trivediís book on nakshatras where it shows lightning/thunders, ajaekpada is the one legged goat god but yes some connection to rudra can be there as there are so many incarnations of the trinity gods
mula is connected to niritti, the goddess of misfortune
you can visit my facebook blog where I write about astrology/numerology with real life examples, just to show how I put it all together with the simple astrological logic

@RhythmNProse

yes this is the degree for the great attractor according to tropical

so what degrees would shiva be in tropical for each of these?
Mula
Purvabhadrapada
Dhanishta

@anekksadh

I use this website to calculate the numerology of names http://www.astrosage.com/numerology/calculator.asp

so shiva is number 4 and connected to uranus and rahu! very interesting!

Mula: 23.00 Sagittarius to 6.30 Capricorn
Purvabhadrapada: 13.00 to 26.30 Pisces
Dhanishta: 16.20 to 29.40 Aquarius

That's using 23 degrees as the difference

thank you RhythmNProse! It was really helpful

so besides these three nakshatra, according to anekksadh we also have arudra which is from 29 gemini to 12 cancer (in tropical)

@anekksadh

I calculated shiva in kabalah according to this page and the result is 6! http://www.numerologynumber.net/kabbalah-numerology

so what planet is associated with the number 6, according to vedic astrology?

here are the list of major stars within these nakshatras (their tropical degrees)

Mula:
LESATH - [23 degrees into Sagittarius]
ACULEUS - [25 degrees into Sagittarius]
ACUMEN - [27 degrees into Sagittarius]
* also the Galactic Center at 27 Sagittarius
- more info on the galactic center:

Purvabhadrapada:
ACHERNAR - [15 degrees of Pisces]
MARKAB - [23 degrees of Pisces]

Dhanishta:
DENEB ALGEDI - [23 degrees into Aquarius]

Arudra:
BETELGEUSE - [28 degrees of Gemini]
POLARIS - [28 degrees of Gemini]
SIRIUS [ALPHA CANIS MAJOR] ORION'S GREAT DOG STAR - [13 degrees of Cancer]

would you think certain starts could also be connected to Shiva?

I personally am finding that the Galactic Center, as well as the stars Sirius, Polaris, Betelgeuse and Deneb Aljedi can be associated with Shiva.

Shiva
3+5+1+6+1= 16= 7 as per Kabbalah numerology
Some write it as Siva
The numerology of the name does not affect the actual trinity god, not sure why are you using numerology to connect a planet to shiva , if a person has his name as shiva then the 7 energy will show up in his characteristic and if the name of a person is spelt siva it will add to 2

so the type of kabalah numerology you are using gives the same result as shiva according to both pythagorian and cheiro/chaldean as I mentioned above, because both show number 7 as well.

I sometimes use numerology to find a person's dominant sign, when I only have a name, and not the birth information.

and both number 7 and Pisces are connected to Neptune, but in the older astrology Jupiter also rules Pisces.

That's a great idea to use the name for a dominant Sign energy.
