I have been reading to my daughter since day one and she has just turned one, but for the past 2 months she has been grabing her books on her own and "exploring" them by flipping through the pages and giving them to me to read to her. A sure sign that she will be a book lover! Another thing that really builds there communication skills and pattern learning is music. When she was first born all I had was Mozart music for young minds, then I discovered the internet for downloading her own cd's. I would make her lulaby cd, fun cd's and just about anything I could think of. Then EVEN BETTER I realized you could make her own juke box on the computer! I have over 150 songs for her from Barney to up beat Spice Girls, to Louis Armstrong. There is music on for her all the time and at this point when she was 11 months old and started bopping her head to music when her favorite songs would come on I knew I was doing the right thing.IP: Logged |

yesterday, when I was reading to my youngest son, my middle one came over and curled up with us to listen to the stories. Even the oldest, who was playing on the computer kept asking questions about the story I was reading. As a child, I could read at 4 because my mother spent so much time reading to me. That doesn't mean all are like that, but you cannot say anything bad about spending time reading with a child. FYI, I saw a post on a BB at church, for seniors to read to children. i think that's a wonderful idea! My little boy turned one on the weekend. I have been reading to him since he was a newborn. He loves being read to and is the only time he sits still!! He even knows now when to turn the page!! I think reading is a great thing to do with your children. The written word is a powerful energy and is a gift to pass on to the next generation.Love and Peace, Sunmeadow Glades. IP: Logged |

Hello everyone! I am so very happy now! My son Jamie (6 years old, will be 7 this month) has been reading since last year! To be honest the main reason that he is reading is because I spent the years reading to my children, and ensured they would know the importance and fun in reading. I hope that for those wonderful parents out there that do not read to their children and see this post they will change their minds and hearts.Reading is soo important! I feel so delighted when I have time to come back to this wonderful home. Randall your efforts have paid off in so many ways. I feel Linda's light shining on you! You are AWESOME! There is so much real and positive love in this place. It makes me trust in love again. You Linda lovers are truly wonderful spirits and friends....the eternal kind of friends! LOve and LIght Ann
