Hey Everyone!I am about to Graduate from university in April. I finished in December and so far i have had no luck finding work. Im thinking of many options one being to do some voluntry work to gain experiance in industry. Another idea I was thinking of is trying to start up my own business and was wondering if anyone here has done it themselves and if they have any suggestions or advice? Ta Jax xxx IP: Logged |

Starting your own business is a wonderful idea. Here are some guidelines: 1) Find a void and fill it. 2) Be fair to yourself: Only do something you love because you will be spending more time each day at it then you would working for someone else. 3) Set up your office in a cost-effective space (house, condo, garage) and then go to your job Monday thru Friday nine to five NO MATTER WHAT!!!! And if you need to stay late because it's in your best interests then DO SO !!!! 4) Provide a service or product that will be affordable to you but one that others will value enough to pay you for. 5) Treat each customer as if they mean the world to you because no matter how you treat them, they will be sure to tell their friends. 6) Whatever profits you realize minus basic living expenses gets plowed back into the business; this is how you make it grow. If you squander your assets, you squander your future. 7) Be VERY CAREFUL about whom you let into YOUR BUSINESS, OPPORTUNISTS ABOUND and no one will ever care about your business as much as YOU (should.) 8) Always deal honestly with your clients and yourself; dishonesty has a nasty way of coming back and giving you an unwanted karmic slam. 9) Even though you haven't done this before, do the steps above and have faith in yourself. Hard work, honesty, and a love of what you are doing will come together like the ingredients in a cake. 10) Stay away from substances; you can't possibly do your best work on a foggy brain. If you stay out late at the bar and your goal is to party-hardy, you've just short-changed your business and you have no right to turn around and be upset when your neglected business fails. 11) ALWAYS PLAN FOR YOUR TAXES AND ALWAYS PAY THEM ON TIME. The Feds are a headache best avoided. 12) If you plan the work then work the plan success will be yours. Good luck!!! g.IP: Logged |
