Yes...I believe babies can hear inside the womb...and while I was pregnant with my daughter Emily, I read outloud ALL the time. Children's books, my Bible etc...and today, she is an A/B honor roll student in the 7th grade with a love of history and reading!!So, when I became pregnant again, I experimented again...this time reading my Bible aloud, but also, playing classical music, and Christmas music, as I was pregnant during the holidays. She is 5 years old now, and is ever so interested in Bible stories...loves going to church and thinks we are supposed to go daily! She also LOVES Christmas music and asks to hear it year round... But today in the car I was flipping channels and came to a classical station...she went beserk and begged me to turn it up! She was humming and doing her hands in the air as if conducting!! Then she asked me if I had a cd she could listen to, so tonight, she fell asleep listening to The Slavoic Dance No. 2 for Dvorak.... the birth of life inside the womb and from beyond is amazing...absolutely amazing..I'm so priviledged to be a mother! I would play music with a good beat when my little one was inside my womb. Plus working in childcare during my pregnancy, I sang alot of nursery rhymes to the children I was looking after. My baby boy loves "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". Even if he is upset, he will stop crying if I am singing this tune. Amazing!!!!!!!!!Love and Peace, Sunmeadow Glades. IP: Logged |

Did you play music in the room, or did you put headphones directly onto on your bellies?Lunargirl IP: Logged |

JustAmanda, that is such a beautiful testimony to playing music for the unborn child. Music has such a huge effect on me, I wonder what my mother did. I know when I was a baby, she only knew showtunes to sing so I'd hear "The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music" and "My FAvorite Things" and I grew up to be an actress! For a little while, anyway. I'm a writer now, but in love with the theatre. So there you go! LMB IP: Logged |

Thanks JustAmanda! I hope to have my 1st child in 2 years. I'm trying to prepare myself physicaly, emotionaly, spritualy now. Playing classical music and Christmas carols while she(?) was in the womb is high on my list of things to do.I will add reading to my list now too I think. My husband thinks I'm just a little crazy but your story gives me more reason to believe. Did you put the earphones right on your belly? Any other pointers from the veteran Mommies out there are most appreciated.IP: Logged |
