I have been in paroxysms of indecision over whether or not I should accept the job offer to work in Yellowstone National Park for the summer.I have been unemployed for awhile now, bummy, cranky, plagued by low self esteem..(I read somewhere that an unemployed Virgo is the most woebegone, identity crisis-filled soul you will ever meet-yup, its true.) Saturn has been filling me with fear, and the idea that running off to play in the woods for 6 months in NOT responsible, NOT mature, that I am too old to shirk my "duties" like that..... But suddenly, last week, in a pique of nervous energy that could not be denied, I finished the prerequisite paperwork, got my car fixed, started a mental spring cleaning regimen. I got the email today that I am good to go. So now I have to take responsibility for choosing a path, and the planning it will entail. Finally, after months of personal and public stagnation, something is happening. Maybe my Saturn return IS OVER...maybe. I have about 11 days to pack for 6 months in a quixotic environment, including business dress for my job and rough clothes for outdoors- I don't even have hiking boots!- I need to start training my body to deal with altitude again...training my mind to NOT freak out over mountain driving....GACK!!! I am excitied and thrilled and petrified all at the same time! Whew.....I need to start making a list...wish me luck!!! MK

Oh MK I'm really happy you took it. Back to the woods and the faeries. When you're stuck in a rut and a new opportunity flies by - grab it! Don't ask too many questions. Even if it doesn't seem perfect, well, one thing leads to another and who knows where this might lead. But frankly, I can't help but think that working in Yellowstone for the summer sounds like paradise. Good Luck! tink

Thank you thank you Tink.... I hemmed and hawed, and realized that no matter what my fears are, its ludicrous to throw an opportunity away like this....especially since theres NOTHING going on where I am at.... LOL......faeries, or bison, whats the difference? I want to see both! No televisions, no internet, and its the BIGGEST political moment in the past 20 years!!! Thats the one thing that nags at me. Isn't that funny? I dont want to miss the NEWS??!!?? I think I need the break, tho. At any case, I will be back in "the civilized world" (HAH!) right when it all really heats up, this fall. I think a "working vacation" suits me just fine....especially in paradise! And, you echoed my thoughts....who knows where this could lead? MK IP: Logged |

Hello, MK, we don't know each other, but I thought I'd share... I travelled for six years and one of the best places I "worked on vacation" was Mesa Verde National Park in SW Colorado. It didn't take long to get used to watching "wild" life in progress instead of the freakin' news! Once the therapeutic vibes of mountain life and the "mountain way" sink in, you'll never want to return to "ordinary life". That's where I had my most difficulty. Just remember one of my favorite hymns each time you are at one with Nature: "Oh the place where I worship, is the wide, open spaces...." Have a great "vacation"! IP: Logged |

Good luck, MK! The last archaeological dig I went on was a remote camp. We lived in tents for two months. No electricity, no phone, no TV, all outdoor showers and toilets. It was great. I missed the news at first, but after 62 days, I was actually kind of sorry to have to return to the "real world". Enjoy!IP: Logged |

Greetings...MK Congrats on your new opportunity. Believe me, I am the least informed person in the world... I hardly ever watch the news... the only smatterings I have of what is going on in the world is what I get from headlines online or the snatches of news I hear on the radio before I turn the station over looking for music. I'm not advocating my uninformed lifestyle... but I think there is enough sadness and hatred, sickness and atrocity going on in our own little corners of the world, forget adding the burden of such things on a global level. I'm an Empath, and one can only take so much... I hope you find answers to your unasked questions in the heights and under the open skies of God's country. Bright Blessings... Wow, MK, This sounds like an excellent opportunity and something that will be really good for the soul. I'm kinda envious, I looove hangin out in the woods far from civilization. Though I have to say you will be missed around these parts. I've really enjoyed reading your posts a great deal. You will return one day won't you? IP: Logged |

I will try to keep everyone updated on my adventures...but there is not much in the way of internet connections...if I am lucky I might get 30 minutes a week. And of course I will come back. How could I stay away from LL My contract ends Sept 3, but I may renew for longer.... And who knows where this could lead? Maybe I will just hop from park to park, working year round. I will see how it goes...can't get lost in yummy daydreams since I haven't even left yet! I just hope my road trip goes safely, and that I find a more peaceful inner self, hanging out in the wonders of Nature. MK IP: Logged |

Nice bump, Randall....I suppose I shouldnt leave it all hanging there, eh?This summer was proof to me that astrology does apply..not that I didnt know that in the first place, but this may have been the first time in MY lifetime that the Universe granted me a boon..... Jupiter in Virgo (which is my 10th house) brings LUCK and auspicious happenings... Well, I got 3 promotions while I was working in the Park. The company seems to adore me. I just happened to meet the right people at the right times, and ended up being management at the best location in YNP. I even got my own cabin. Everything just "worked out." Theres no other way to describe it. I learned to stop worrying (!!!! for a Virgo...thats a HUGE deal) because no matter how much you worry, you cant control how things will work out. Life just happens. I met cool people from all over the world (i would really like to see Romania now) I hiked, I hung out with Mama Nature alot, I got over my Saturn Return....and now, inbetween seasons and back at "home" all i want is to go back. Funny how life works sometimes... MK IP: Logged |
