Hi guys,

I was wondering if there's anyone here in the field of Human Resources? If so, is it rewarding and fulfilling? Next year, I'll have to declare my major... I get freaked out, because i don't want to make the wrong choice. I was really thinking about psychology, but I'm not completely decided.

My husb is and I worked in HR at one job. Here is what I can tell you. I thought HR was rewarding. If you like dealing with people it is. Often though you have to deal with people who want things you cannot give. This puts you on the defensive. The one thing that was frustrating and is for my husband also is that there is often a lack of consistency in your work. Situations that are unique come up all the time. You never know what and when but this is daily and you have no control over that part. So i guess Im saying that a flexible personality is a must. Hope this helps. I wish you luck

I thought of something else. Another thing I liked about HR was that you are "in the know" about the corporation. You often deal with the managers and I always liked working with the leaders.

My MIL is an HR Manager. She's been doing it for quite some time. She works for Sharp Micro Tech. She enjoys it... though, firing is hard for her sometimes.

She's pretty financially secure, and gets loads of bonuses & perks.

Anyhoo... hope that helps.

HR = babysitting adults.

I'm an intern for the HR department of my county. The professor I am doin independent study with is an HR manager at Disney so I get to hear lotsa stuff. Its not too different from the theory we learn in HR classes (unlike Marketing which varies a lot from theory once you get out in the real world). So if you like the classes, if you have HR work experience, and if you like working with people, even if it can be straining or difficult sometimes, then you will like it.
Best of luck! Btw im an HR major and I love it.
