Hi CelesteI went to college at aged 35....I had worked in boring jobs since leaving school but had a real urge to take up something rewarding.
The courses I pursued were body massage, anatomy and physiology and also aromatherapy, the study of essential oils. I loved it and for once in my life was top of the class....hahahahha !!! My enthusiasm was boundless !!
When qualified I started my own business in the city and gained lots of experience. From then on i studied Reiki and took parts 1, 2 and 3. Other courses I did included spiritual healing, colour therapy, and more recently I did a short course in house and space clearing.....
The thing I would be aware of Celeste is that lots of people that go into the healing profession are indeed at some level seeking self healing. The number of people that I have met along the way who yearn to "help others".....really need firstly to help themselves.....I was one of these people...that is how I know. The other thing is when you are actually doing the healing on others, it is so important to have treatments yourself and of course to protect yourself too. I was lucky in that I worked with two other women and we swapped treatments, so I would get a massage and a reiki session every week.
On a more practical note, I have found that healing doesnt really bring in much money....but if you trust, enough will come to get by. I dont know of many that would do it for the money alone....its more of a vocation!
I have learned so much in the past few years, and have stories that would make you gasp, laugh, cry.....it has been a real eye opener for me.
Dont know whether I would go back to the massage,,,,,it is very hard work....but when my son is older, I would quite fancy training to be a sex/relationship counsellor...more talk than touch..........will save the touch for my family......hahahahahaha.
Please ask away if there is anything I can help you with.....would be happy to share.
Love
Sue xxxx
