This might sound silly to ask but... I'm from South Africa and I don't know how the education system works in America. For example, how many years in high school? What are the final exams called etc. I'm just curious...can anyone enlighten me, please? IP: Logged |

Hi.HighSchool is usually four years. Freshman (9th grade) Sophmore (10th grade) Junior (11th grade) Senior (12th grade) During your 9th, 10th, and 11th grade, students take the state test...in California, its called the CAT6, in Washington State its called the WASL. 10th-11th graders take the PSAT's..., the practice college entrace test. in 11th-12th grade they take the actual SAT's. And from my knowledge, we just call the final exams..."final exams." lol

Hi! I'm in highschool now! lol. Everything taurean_scorpion said is correct! Though I dont think we have the state test anymore, we've had them in elementary school and on up, but I didn't have it last year. And we have four quarters, thats about three months per quarter. And Two semesters, which is two quarters per one semester...does that make sense? And you take final exams at the end of the semesters. You take a exam for every major academic class you have, ie. spanish, english, math (yuk!)its actually pretty cool. You go in only for those classes you have tests in, and you have it on seperate days. It's a bit like college, you get a proctor and everything. Hmm....well, it all sort of depend on which state and what school your going to. But everything TS said is pretty much true for all schools. I hope that helped? lol... IP: Logged |

Christina, what do you want to study in college? And for the record... cheerleaders are ATHLETES! (I graduated 10 years ago, but I was a cheerleader and had to put my two cents in!) I know that's not what you said. It was just a big controversy back in the day! IP: Logged |

But is cheerleading a sport?------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. No, I'm not ever going to college. i just know that a university application would be good school marks and profile / history and so on. Not too sure about colleges though, but I suppose they work the same!

hehe...yes yes cheerleading, athelets...really, I've no clue if they are. We don't have them. We have something called Kinesis, advance dance. I guess. Oh, but we do have the JOCKS! Damn! hehe...Hmm, I've been looking into my astrology, and they've mentioned psychology a couple times. And I'm pretty good at...anaylzing people...? I guess. I'm getting a career counselor now, and we're going to talk about it. I dont like her, she's bitter and doesn't like life. And her smiles fake. heh. IP: Logged |

I have heard if there is no defense, then it can't be a sport; however, I am content to call cheerleading a spectator sport. ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things."
