Ok... for the past two years I've been working in a job that to be honest doesn't fulfil me one bit. It's boring, so boring... the only reason I stick with it is because I've got so many debts to pay off at the moment (automatic payments coming out every week) and this job pays better than any other job I could get at the present time. Plus I get to work at home online, which means the job is flexible and it allows me to travel if I want to and work from anywhere (if I could afford to travel that is!). So I've been sticking with it, grimly paying off credit cards, my laptop and so on. For this reason I need to continue with it AT LEAST into next year, and because of the good pay and flexibility I want to be able to stick at it for as long as I can... but it's just so boring. My bf was watching me work last night and he said, "... you're dying. I don't mean to scare you. But your brain is switching off." And although I knew I was bored, those words "you're dying" really hit me. I think that's one reason why I do astrology, because in between work it keeps my mind interested and active... Maybe it's the fact that I'm earning money but not seeing any rewards because it's all going towards paying my bills and meanwhile I live in a crappy flat that gets so cold in the winter and I can't afford anything else right now... I haven't bought any new clothes in so long and I don't have anything that I enjoy wearing... my life used to be all about buying clothes and I miss that!So to cut a long story short, I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how to avoid this "brain die-off" and really motivate myself again... the job really has become so deathly boring for me. In the past if I haven't been enjoying something I just quit. But quitting is not an option this time!

Dear Gemini, I think you can endure any hardship if you have something to look forward to. If you know that in one year, you're going to be gainfully employed at your ideal job, making tons of money - you can endure your current circumstances. It's sort of like prisoners who mark off days till they're free - it helps them to keep going. It doesn't sound as if you have a new job planned - and that's what you need to do now. When you start focusing on what you really want, start visualizing, etc. then - even though you're physically present at your current place - your heart and soul have already sent out energetic tentacles, allowing your fabulous new job to start winging it's way toward you. That's what I would do.IP: Logged |

As someone who knows good advice but often doesn't follow it, I still want to believe these: DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND THE REST WILL FOLLOW "SEEK YOUR PASSION OR SEEK TO FIND WHAT YOUR PASSION IS" SENECA If you are nervous about chaos and disorder from taking that step (see Fool's Card), remember this: PRIGOGINE PRINCIPLE ONCE AN ORGANISM EXPERIENCES CHAOS AND DISORDER AS A MEANS OF DISMANTLONG ITSELF, THE ORGANISM ALWAYS REASSEMBLES ITSELF TO A MORE EVOLVED AND EXPANDED STRUCTURE Lovingly, Tuxedo Meow IP: Logged |

I've been thinking about my job an awful lot lately myself, and I honestly think that is what it takes to come up with the next thing you want to do. I'm artistic, cardinal, and mutable, so there are lots of ideal jobs I can see myself in. My problem has been deciding on one (Gemini Ascendant and stellium in the 7th). Ongoing thinking about it has given me an answer that will satisfy everything I'm looking for right now.So keep thinking about it as much as possible, and eventually your mind will come up with a creative solution that will suit you well, and that will be within your grasp. Yeah it is so hard for me to find something that is perfect... with my Sag ascendant (Leo decan) I need something with a lot of freedom where I can be independent, and that will stimulate my mind. I hate routine and being pinned down. With my sun in the 5th house it's also important for me to be creative or I die of boredom...IP: Logged |

Yeah, my stellium in the 7th is also in Sag, and my Moon is in the 5th, so I definitely relate. There's got to be at least 20 jobs I've considered doing that I think I'd be perfectly talented enough to do. I've realized that with most of them there is no short or clear cut route to get into them, so I'm going with an option that will use my current skill set, but pay more, have better benefits (including retirement), and not require much if any overtime. That way I can be secure whilst also having plenty of time to do my thing and pursue the other things I'm interested in.IP: Logged |

That describes my dream job perfectly! Only thing is, it also describes what I'm doing right now... but what's missing is the intellectual stimulation and creativity, and that's what depresses me about it. Only reasons I stick with it are the financial reasons and the flexibility/independence compared to most other jobs... and the time I get to do my own thing. Sounds like this is something that affects Gemini/Sag ascendants/descendants... what's your sun and moon, AG?IP: Logged |

Oh you have some nice placements as far as I can tell! I can see why you need the flexibility in your job. Supposedly I'm very fixed due to my sun and moon, but my ascendant seems to take over. I could never understand why I was so restless and needing of change and adventure, but then it all made sense when I finally discovered my ascendant. IP: Logged |

James Braha wrote an excellent book, called, "How to Be a Great Astrologer," and in the first chapter he mentions the most important point in any chart is the north node. He feels you absolutely must express your north node energy, or you will never be satisfied. Jan Spiller also wrote a book about nodes - Your Soul Purpose. Sometimes checking out the node sign and house placement can guide you to a fulfilling career.IP: Logged |

Going along with that, you can find Sag careers in the Free Astrology Course in WilsonTC's thread Astro Job Bank (or something like that).IP: Logged |

Oh... so seeing as my NN is in Sag as well as my ASC this does seem important... thanks for the info!In fact today I thought to myself I should go back to study, even if it is part-time. I could continue my job but give myself something more interesting to do that might lead somewhere... I was considering taking a university class on some kind of religious studies/spirituality topic just to exercise my mind... Thanks! IP: Logged |

From astrology.comSagittarius Career Profile The freewheeling, happy-go-lucky Sagittarius is a good person to have on the sales team -- they'll probably get the order, hopefully before they unintentionally insult the client! Sagittarians like to have fun, smiling and laughing with colleagues and feeling as if Lady Luck is on their side. They are also passionate about what they believe in and, as befits a Fire Sign, will work doggedly on their causes. The Archer is a good team player who can plot the course ahead with broad brushstrokes and convince everyone around that it's the way to go. The most important Sagittarian quality may be hope. If you're on a sinking ship, pray that a Sagittarian is on board! These positive, optimistic people can do wonders with something they believe in, which makes them ideal for turnaround or public service situations. They also need freedom and plenty of room to roam. The Archer is adept at social situations (sly?) and insatiably curious (spy?). Knowledge is power to those born under this Sign, which makes them excellent researchers. What to do with all this information? Put it to work, of course! There's lots to be done where the Archer is concerned. Travel is the Archer's middle name, and this isn't restricted to a wandering mind. While Sagittarians love to philosophize, they also like to hit the road, visiting exciting lands filled with exotic strangers. They won't be strange for long, though, since the Archer connects easily with people and will quickly learn everything about them. This can be a double-edged sword, though, since Sagittarians tend to look at the big picture and neglect important details. An efficient aide de camp is essential for the macro-wired Archer. The Sagittarius office is often no more than an address, since the Archer would rather be elsewhere. When they hit the road, it will probably be in a spacious American sedan -- a 50's era "boat," fins included, would be about right. A few colleagues might jump in and everyone would roar off to a Mongolian barbecue. Sagittarians are well-suited as travel agents, explorers, professors, photographers, ambassadors, import-export traders and thrillseekers. IP: Logged |
